We have lots of programs offered this month, including storytimes, juvenile and teen crafts, movie matinees, genealogy, retirement planning and the history of the harmonica – just to name a few! Save the Date for our Friends of the Library Summer Reading Book Sale on Saturday, June 17, from 10:00-3:00. The sale will be outside the lower entrance of the library and features like new children’s books and adult trade paperbacks – all for only $2.00 each. This is a popular sale – come early for the best selection!

As the weather warms, be sure to take advantage of our free and reduced admission passes to area attractions. Passes can be reserved ahead of time; most you can print at home or download to a mobile device before visiting the venue. Information can be found on our website, milfordlibrary.org.

Elevator Update: THANK YOU for your continued patience. The elevator is being replaced and we hope to have the project done by fall. Please contact us if you need assistance; staff are happy to make accommodations in services, bring materials to the lower level, etc. Please stick with us.

Milford News: $5K Shoplifting

#Milford CT– A shoplifting incident occurred at Victoria Secret located at 1201 Boston Post Road on April 27, 2023. The following individuals were arrested for their involvement in the incident:

Aaliyah Chung (B/F, 21) of 1517 Park Place, apt. 11F, Brooklyn, NY

Josh Dior (B/M, 25) of 848 Crescent Street, apt. 1, Brooklyn, NY

Shiquan Aikens (B/M, 28) of 6217 Lippizan Circle, Virginia Beach, VA

Aaliyah Chung was charged with Conspiracy to Commit/Larceny 3rd Degree, Larceny 3rd Degree, and Possession of a Shoplifting Device. Josh Dior was charged with Conspiracy to Commit/Larceny 3rd Degree. Shiquan Aikens was charged with Conspiracy to Commit/Larceny 3rd Degree, Larceny 3rd Degree, and Interfering with an Officer. All three were given a bond of $5,000 and their court dates are as follows:

Aaliyah Chung and Josh Dior: May 11, 2023

Shiquan Aikens: May 25, 2023

The police officers were alerted to the incident by Victoria Secret’s security team. The suspects had fled the parking lot in a blue sedan, which the officers were able to stop. The vehicle contained several individuals, including the suspects. While Chung and Dior were secured, Aikens fled on foot but was later apprehended. Two other individuals also fled on foot but were not found.

According to the Victoria Secret Loss Prevention officer, four individuals had entered the store and placed items in shopper bags without paying for them. The stolen items were valued at $5,196.55. The suspects who were detained, including Chung, Dior, and Aikens, were positively identified as the shoplifters and were charged accordingly.

Milford News: Violation Of Restraining Order

#Milford CT–On April 26, 2023, police officers were called to a residence on Jepson Drive in response to a dispute. When they arrived, they found two people outside the house. After conducting an investigation, it was determined that one of the individuals, Charles Pritchard, had violated a restraining order. As a result, Pritchard was arrested and charged with the offense. He was given a bond of $2,500.

Milford News: Risk of Injury to a Minor

#Milford CT–On April 5, 2023, the authorities received a report of a domestic violence incident at a residence on Page Street. Following the incident, arrest warrants were issued for Nikki Phu, a 43-year-old female, and Nelson Gutierrez, a 46-year-old male, both residents of Page Street. On April 6, 2023, both Phu and Gutierrez surrendered themselves to the authorities and were arrested. They were charged with Risk of Injury to a Minor and their bond was set for a promise to appear in court.

Milford CT–On April 6, 2023, a witness reported to the authorities that Shaire Bascome, a 25-year-old male residing at Parks Street, Bridgeport, kicked the bus shelter located at 1201 Boston Post Road and shattered the glass. As a result, Bascome was arrested and charged with Criminal Mischief in the 2nd Degree. His bond was set for a PTA Court appearance on May 9, 2023.

Milford News: Serious Accident

#Milford CT–On April 19, 2023, at approximately 11:00 pm, a motor vehicle collision was reported near Bridgeport Avenue and Lansdale Avenue. An initial investigation revealed that a 2007 Hyundai Elantra was traveling west on Bridgeport Avenue. The operator, William Chalk (DOB 5/20/99), attempted to make a left turn onto Lansdale Avenue when the vehicle veered off the roadway on the west side of Lansdale Avenue and struck the guide wire to a utility pole. The passenger of the vehicle, Ashlee Gillespie (DOB 10/5/2000), was transported to Bridgeport Hospital where it was determined she had suffered serious injuries.
The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information or who may have witnessed the collision is asked to contact PFC Dan Hemperly of the Traffic Division at (203) 783-4792.

Milford News: Violation Of Protective Order

#Milford CT– On April 15, 2023, officers responded to the Milford Inn for a disturbance. They spoke to the complainant who

said that Ryan McGibony, 29 of Old Gate Lane was yelling at people in the laundry room. During the investigation, they found that McGibony had a full protective order against him, and he was in violation of the order. He was charged

Criminal Violation of a Protective Order and his bond was set at $2,500.

Milford News: Stalking/Violation for a Criminal Protective Order

#Milford CT– On April 7, 2023, officers took a report for a domestic violence incident on Welton Street. The victim has a full no-contact protective order against Joseph Andrews. After an investigation, it was determined that Andrews was in violation of the order, along with numerous other crimes. He was located in Shelton and taken into custody.

CHARGE(S): Violation for a Criminal Protective Order (3 Counts)

Stalking 1st Degree

Criminal Mischief 1st Degree

Harassment 2nd Degree

BOND: $250,000

Milford News: Disorderly Conduct

#Milford CT–On March 25, 2023, officers responded to a Naugatuck Avenue residence for a dispute. Officers spoke to the victim who said that they got into a verbal argument with Jeffrey Domeracki, 36 of Naugatuck Avenue. During the argument, Domeracki locked them out of the house without a jacket and poured garbage over their head. He was charged with Disorderly Conduct and bond was set at $25,000
