In the early hours of November 7, 2023, Norwalk Combined Dispatch received reports of an evading motor vehicle accident that occurred at the intersection of Martin Luther King Jr. Drive and Madison Street. Responding swiftly to the scene, Norwalk Police Officers discovered an individual who had been struck by the fleeing vehicle. The injured individual was promptly transported to Norwalk Hospital for medical treatment.
Authorities are now urging anyone who witnessed the accident or possesses relevant information to come forward and assist with the investigation. The Detective Bureau is looking to identify the pictured individuals in connection to an attempted Robbery in Norwalk on 8/3/23. The victim was selling an item online and the suspect attempted to physically take it after offering fake currency. The suspect then indicated he had a weapon before fleeing the scene. On October 26, 2023, Norwalk Police Detectives visited the Suffolk County Correctional Facility in Riverhead, NY, to execute an extraditable warrant for Corey Poole. This arrest stemmed from a 2021 investigation into the fraudulent purchase of a Jeep Grand Cherokee worth over $50,000 using fake identification at a local car dealership. Following an extensive inquiry, detectives identified Poole as the primary suspect, uncovering his involvement in similar crimes across various jurisdictions in Connecticut, New York, and Pennsylvania. Poole, a 22-year-old resident of 5 Seaman Ave Hempstead NY, was taken into custody and transported back to Norwalk Police Headquarters, where charges of Larceny in the First Degree, Identity Theft in the First Degree, and Forgery in the Third Degree were filed against him. His bond was set at $250,000, and his court appearance is scheduled for November 9, 2023. On October 29th at approximately 3:25PM Norwalk Police were notified of a deceased male floating in the Long Island Sound. Norwalk Police Marine Unit located and recovered the deceased individual. The Detective Bureau and The Office of the State Medical Examiner are currently investigating and trying to determine the identity. On October 21, 2023, at 4:46 PM, multiple calls flooded Norwalk Combined Dispatch, urgently requesting assistance at the intersection of Grist Mill Road and the Route 7 connector due to a reported single motor vehicle accident. Tragically, this incident claimed the life of the vehicle’s sole occupant and operator.
Swiftly responding to the distress calls, the Norwalk Police, Norwalk Fire Department, and Norwalk Hospital Emergency Medical Service were dispatched to the accident site. Upon arrival, the responding officers discovered the vehicle situated in an embankment area off the roadway. Their immediate efforts were directed toward safely extricating the operator from the wreckage. Regrettably, the operator, identified as Joshua Chapman, 37, from Naugatuck, did not survive the accident, and he was pronounced deceased at the scene by Norwalk Hospital Emergency Medical Service personnel.
As authorities diligently investigate this tragic accident, they encourage anyone who possesses information relevant to the incident to come forward. Westport Police are currently in the midst of an intensive search for two missing boaters. The incident unfolded on October 22, 2023, at approximately 4:09 PM, when Westport Police were alerted to a boating mishap, potentially involving two missing individuals. A concerned boater in the vicinity of Cockenoe Island discovered a man standing on Nun #2, a navigational buoy, at around 4:00 PM. Promptly, a second man and a woman were also rescued from the water. All three individuals were swiftly transported to Norwalk Marina and subsequently to a hospital for a comprehensive evaluation.
Given the language barrier encountered at the scene, a translator was requested. Once responding officers were able to communicate with the individuals involved, it became evident that a total of five people were on board a small fishing boat that had sunk, compelling all of them to enter the water.
The search efforts, spearheaded by Westport Police Marine Division and complemented by the US Coast Guard, Norwalk Police Marine Division, Fairfield Police Marine Division, and Suffolk County Air Unit, are actively underway. Their primary objective is to locate the vessel on which these individuals were aboard and to find the two missing individuals, both hailing from Spring Valley, NY, and Suffern, NY. Collaborative efforts with translators are being employed to facilitate this investigation.
The incident transpired sometime after 9:30 AM on the morning of October 22, when the small fishing boat was anchored on the southside of Cockenoe Island and ultimately sank due to the choppy waters. As mentioned, all five occupants ended up in the Sound. Search operations commenced but were temporarily suspended at 9:00 PM on the same day, only to resume at sunrise the following morning. Both US Coast Guard Marine and Air Units, as well as the Suffolk County Air Unit, are providing invaluable assistance in this ongoing search and rescue mission.
Police UPDATE: On October 22, 2023, at approximately 4:09 PM, Westport Police were alerted to a boating incident with the possibility of two missing people. Around 4:00 PM, a boater in the vicinity of Cockenoe Island discovered a male standing on Nun #2 (a navigational buoy). A second male and a female were also rescued from the water. All three individuals were transported to Norwalk Marina and subsequently to the hospital for evaluation.
A translator was requested, and once responding officers were able to speak with the involved parties, it was learned that there were a total of five individuals on a small boat that sank, causing all parties to enter the water. Westport Police Marine Division, with the assistance of the US Coast Guard, Norwalk Police Marine Division, Fairfield Police Marine Division, and Suffolk County Air Unit, is actively searching the waters in an attempt to locate the vessel these individuals were on and the two missing parties.

Coast Guard, Norwalk, and Westport combine on a water rescue off Long Island Sound. Sound like they are headed into a yacht club in Norwalk.
On October 5, 2023, the Norwalk Police Department’s Detective Bureau received a request for assistance from the Fugitive Task Force of the Prosecutor’s Office of Somerset County, New Jersey. Their request was related to the apprehension of a wanted fugitive within their jurisdiction. The Norwalk Detectives initiated an investigation into the case, focusing on the whereabouts of Juan Marales, who was sought for five active warrants. These warrants included charges for second-degree burglary, two counts of third-degree failure to register as a sex offender, second-degree endangering/abuse/neglect of a child, and third-degree aggravated assault on a Correctional/Sheriff’s Officer.
The Norwalk Detectives successfully tracked down Juan Marales to the Red Carpet Inn, located at 469 Westport Avenue. At this location, they apprehended him without any incidents or confrontations. The arrested individual, Juan Marales, is a 41-year-old with no permanent address, hailing from Edison, New Jersey. He was taken into custody as a fugitive from justice. A bond of $1,000,000 was set for his release, and his court date was scheduled for October 19, 2023.

On October 11, 2023, at 7:37 PM, Norwalk Police Combined Dispatch received a 911 call from an employee of Al’s Warehouse Liquor Store, 617 Connecticut Avenue, who advised that she was robbed by two women. The victim stated she was assaulted by one of the suspects as she attempted to confront her for stealing a bottle of liquor. The victim declined medical treatment.
The first suspect is described as a black female, wearing an orange hooded sweatshirt, black pants, and white sneakers. The second suspect is described as a black female, wearing black pants and a black shirt.

2023-10-09@8:20pm–#Norwalk CT– Police are looking for a black Nissan wanted in connection to an armed robbery at a package store on West Taft Avenue. Three black males wearing surgical masks entered the store and displayed a firearm during the robbery.
