Norwalk News: COVID-19 Precautions

The Norwalk Police Department is committed to providing quality service to the community.  Due to COVID-19, we will be taking the following precautions:

 Please call the routine number, 203-854-3000 instead of coming to the Police Department in person if it is safe to do so.

 When calling the Police Department for any reason, please advise the call taker if you are sick or experiencing any symptoms such as: FEVER, COUGH or DIFFICULTY BREATHING.

 Officers will maintain social distancing of at least 6 feet or make contact via phone rather than in person when appropriate.

 Public Fingerprinting and car seat installations are postponed until further notice The police department lobby remains open for emergency purposes. We are limiting access to routine service non-police services to appointment only. Please call the following numbers forinstruction on those services:

Norwalk News: Burglary Arrest

2020-03-07@3:45am–#Norwalk CT–Officers responded to a residence on Raymond Terrace or a burglary. The homeowner observed an unknown party enter a shed located to the rear of the property. The suspect had stolen fishing poles from the shed, and the homeowner provided a description to officers as well as showed them a video of the suspect.

 

A description of the suspect was relayed to other officers that were working. An officer on patrol observed an individual matching the description enter Ludlow Commons, an elderly housing complex. Inside, officers located Jose Crespo who was identified as the person seen on the video and arrested. The stolen items were recovered from a vehicle Crespo had driven to Ludlow Commons Arrested: Jose Crespo D.O.B 12-5-63 Charges: Burglary in the Third Degree, Larceny in the Sixth Degree Bond: $1,500 Court: 3/17/20

Norwalk News: Holy Robbery!

#Norwalk CT–The Norwalk Police Detective Bureau is requesting public assistance in identifying armed robbery suspects. On Friday Feb 14, at around 0700 Chick-fil-A at 467 Connecticut Avenue was robbed. Pictures attached show two individuals and a vehicle that is believed to be involved in the crime. The Plate on the vehicle is NY “JCF6744”. Anyone who recognizes these individuals or this vehicle is asked to contact Detective Courtney Downer at 203-854-3182 or cdowner@norwalkct.org

 

Norwalk News: Teens Arrested In Attempted Robbery

#Norwalk CT–On January 17, 2020, the Patrol Division investigated a robbery complaint on Academy Street. The initial investigation revealed that on January 16, 2020, two juveniles had attempted to rob a victim who was walking on Academy Street. During this incident, one of the juveniles grabbed the victim from behind and attempted to steal items while the other juvenile displayed a handgun. The victim, who was not injured, was able to fight them off and leave the area. The Special Victims Unit assumed the investigation and Detective English conducted interviews and obtained statements that ultimately led to the arrest of both juveniles. SVU Detectives arrested both juveniles on February 5, 2020. The handgun was recovered by the Norwalk Police Department during a separate incident involving the two juveniles on the evening of January 17, 2020. The handgun was found to be a facsimile firearm. The youths were released to the custody of their parents

Manslaughter Arrest

#Norwalk, CT- Charlie Castillo, 29, of Bridgeport, turned himself in this morning, at the Norwalk Police Department on an active warrant. Castillo, whose charges include Manslaughter 2nd, is being held on a $500,000 court set bond and will be presented in court today.

 

On August 31, 2019 at 4:27 PM, Norwalk Police Officers and Paramedics responded to a Norwalk residence on the report of an unconscious individual. The individual was rushed to Norwalk Hospital in critical condition. Despite rescue efforts, the victim died later in the day. The investigation continued in the home where officers located suspect narcotic paraphernalia. The Norwalk Detective Division assumed the case. It was later determined by the Medical Examiner that the cause of death was an overdose stemming from the use of cocaine/fentanyl. Detective Collins, who led the investigation, was able to determine that Castillo had sold the narcotics to the victim. Norwalk Police Department encourages all persons who struggle with substance abuse or drug addiction to reach out for help by calling 2-1-1, or by going online to www.211ct.org.

Norwalk News: Man Assaults Another With A Pipe

#Norwalk CT–On February 1, 2020 at approximately 5am Norwalk Police were called to 11 Bedford Avenue because Brandon Wagshol had pushed an individual inside the residence. When officers arrived on scene, there was yelling inside the apartment. They knocked on the door and Wagshol came to the door and was detained without incident. Officers located a victim inside who Wagshol had pushed into a wall, causing damage to the wall. The victim had a large laceration on his/her head which was sustained when Wagshol hit the victim with a pipe. Officers recovered a two foot pipe from the scene which they secured as evidence.

 

Norwalk News: Possible Child Abducted

3:59pm–UPDATE:  The vehicle and girl have been located!

 

2020-01-31@3:00PMish–#Norwalk CT– A girl was just abducted from West Rock Middle School according to numerous police be on the lookout broadcasts. A girl wear pink short and a backpack was seen screaming while being dragged into a white Ford Econoline van with a ladder on top.

Police Involved Shooting

#Norwalk CT– On the evening of January 15, 2020 Troopers out of Troop G-Bridgeport received reports of a possible carjacking in the Norwalk area. Troopers were able to locate the accused vehicle which engaged responding officer in a pursuit into the city of West Haven. There have been reports of an officer involved shooting which occurred in the town of West Haven stemming from this aforementioned incident.
