Norwalk News: Sexual Assault Arrest

#Norwalk CT– On June 21, 2019, the Norwalk Police Department Patrol Division investigated a complaint involving Kohl’s Loss Prevention Officer Edwin Espichan. The parents of two female juveniles reported that the juveniles were detained by Espichan in the Kohl’s security office at 500 Connecticut Avenue.  During their detention, Espichan asked for sexual favors in lieu of the police or their parents being called.   Detective Marquis and Detective Lapak of the Special Victims Unit assumed the investigation. The Special Victims Unit’s investigation further revealed that one of the juveniles was sexually assaulted by Espichan while detained. The juvenile victims were eventually released after being detained for over an hour. Later that day Espichan contacted one of the juvenile victims via social media.

Based on the Special Victims Unit investigation, an arrest warrant was issued for Espichan.  On July 12, 2019, Special Victims Unit Detectives arrested Edwin Espichan without incident at 500 Connecticut Avenue, Kohl’s.

Arrested: Edwin Espichan, date of birth 02-12-84 of 9 Chestnut Hill Avenue White Plains New York.

Charges: Sexual Assault 4th, Reckless Endangerment 2nd (2 counts), Unlawful Restraint 1st (2 counts) and Disorderly Conduct (2 counts).

Bond: $500,000

Norwalk News: Body Found In The Marina

Norwalk Police UPDATE:  On June 30, 2019 at 9:24pm, Norwalk Police, Norwalk Fire and Norwalk Hospital EMS responded to 1 Selleck Street for a male that fallen into the Norwalk River and had not surfaced. Arriving first responders began a search for the male. The Stamford Fire Department responded to the scene with their on-duty dive personnel. Stamford Fire dive personnel located the male underwater and brought him to the surface, where he was transferred to the care of EMS. The male was transported to the Norwalk Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The male was identified as 62 year-old Jozef Gorski of Easton. Norwalk Detectives are investigating the incident and are awaiting the findings of the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. Witnesses at the scene stated that Mr. Gorski appeared to slip while stepping off a boat onto the dock.

 

2019-06-30 @ 9:39pm–#Norwalk CT– A employee at U-Haul at 1 Selleck Street said he saw a man coming into the marina fell into the water.  About 20 minutes later first responders said they found a body in the water.  The person’s condition is not known at this time.

2:39pm–Extensive storm damage from Norwalk to Bridgeport and all points in between.  Lots of reports of downed trees blocking roadways.  Extensive power outages.

 

#Fairfield CT– Downed trees and power lines has a person stuck in the vehicle in front of St. Paul’s Church on the Old Post Road.

 

#Westport CT– People trapped in the cars due to downed trees on Westport Avenue both in Westport and Fairfield.

 

#Easton CT– Route 58 and 136 area has no power and no traffic lights are working.

 

#Fairfield CT– Sturges Highway numerous downed trees blocking the roadway in both directions.

 

#Bridgeport CT– Numerous power outages reported.

Here is I-95 southbound near exit 21:

On June 24, 2019, the Norwalk Police Department was contacted by the Bennington, Vermont Police Department regarding a fugitive named Zachary Dumas, who was believed to be staying on Cedar Street in Norwalk. Dumas had an active arrest warrant for larceny from a person, criminal threatening and habitual criminal which stemmed from a robbery of a restaurant. Special Services Officers began conducting surveillance of the area and observed a Chevrolet sedan park on Summit Avenue. Dumas exited the driver’s side of the vehicle, at which time officers moved in to arrest him. Upon seeing the officers, Dumas fled on foot, running behind a business on Cedar Street and then down a hill and onto I-95. Dumas ran across I-95 and then up the embankment on the other side, which leads to the rear of the Norwalk Fire Department Station 2. Special Services Officers radioed Dumas’s location to back-up officers, who chased Dumas briefly before tackling him to the ground and taking him into custody behind the firehouse. The Chevrolet that Dumas was driving was found to have been stolen from Troy, New York.

Norwalk News: Man Falls Onto Railroad Tracks

2019-06-22 @ 4:27pm–#Norwalk CT– A man had fallen off the platform onto the New York side of the  railroad tracks at the Monroe Street Train Station.  The man has been removed from the tracks but is now reported to be unresponsive.  First responders on the way.
