Norwalk News: Narcotics Arrest

On March15 2018, members of the Special Services Division conducted a surveillance operation in the. During this operation, Francis Bruno was observed conducting a narcotics transaction in the Taylor Avenue area. After observing Bruno committing several motor vehicle violations, officers conducted a motor vehicle stop in the parking lot of 497 Connecticut Avenue.

 

A Darien Police Department Canine Officer and Police Service Dog Kenny responded to the scene to assist. PSD Kenny indicated for the presence of the narcotic odor in Bruno’s vehicle. A search of the vehicle yielded one hundred twenty-four grams of powdered cocaine. The cocaine was packaged in forty-eight separate bags of 1.15 gram and 3.7 gram weights. Bruno was in possession of $1439. Officers seized the cocaine, cash and Bruno’s vehicle. Bruno has an extensive criminal history to include narcotics sale arrests.

Norwalk News: Drug Arrest

#Norwalk CT– On March 13, 2018, members of the Special Services Division and the Detective Bureau conducted a joint operation within the City of Norwalk. Detective Brendan Collins had previously secured an arrest warrant for Andre Roberts. This stemmed from an investigation into a home invasion that occurred on November 23, 2018 at 7 Midwood Road. At the time of the home invasion Roberts was a resident of 7 Midwood Road. During the investigation into the home invasion, Detectives located and seized 700 Xanax pills, 1.5 pounds of marijuana packaged for sale, $9,000 cash and numerous Ziploc plastic bags consistent with those used to package marijuana for sale. These items were seized from Andre Roberts’s room. Subsequently, Officer David Geismar of the Special Services Division conducted a lengthy investigation into Roberts’s drug dealing within Norwalk. Multiple controlled purchases of marijuana were conducted from Roberts. As a result of the investigation, search warrants were issued for Roberts, his vehicle and his residence at 515 West Avenue. During the joint operation, investigators arrested Roberts outside of 515 West Avenue. At the time, he was in possession of 1.12 pounds of marijuana packaged in thirty-five individual bags for street sale and cash. A subsequent search of Roberts’ vehicle and apartment yielded marijuana wax, vape pens used to ingest the wax, marijuana edibles and additional cash. Roberts also had a stun gun in his vehicle. A total of $897 was seized. Norwalk News: Murder Arrest

#Norwalk CT–On February 3, 2010 at 8:50am, the Norwalk Police Department Patrol Division responded to Nathaniel Ely School for a report of a man down. Officers found a deceased male victim who had been shot three times. The victim was identified as Norwalk resident Karl Savage. On March 8, 2018, Norwalk Detectives arrested David McBride and charged him with murder for the slaying of Karl Savage. Detective Daniel Serio, who is assigned to the Special Investigation Squad of the Detective Bureau, investigated this case. Detective Serio is commended for his diligent work in continuing the investigation and obtaining probable cause for McBride’s arrest. Norwalk News: Larceny Suspect

On February 25, 2018, Norwalk Police investigated a larceny complaint at the Shell Gas Station on Westport Ave. The victim entered the establishment and placed his phone down on the front counter. After he completed his transaction, he left and forgot the phone. The victim returned to the gas station a short time later hoping to retrieve his phone. However, the phone was taken prior to the victim returning. The suspect is described as a male, possibly Asian with long black hair, brown eyes, mustache, an earring in left ear with eyeglasses. The suspect is approximately 5’-7” tall and was wearing a red and white hooded zip-up jacket, black pants and red and white sneakers. The suspect left the area in an older silver Acura with tinted windows and a sunroof. Anyone who can identify the suspect or has information about this crime is asked to contact Officer Avila at 203-854-3051.

Norwalk News: Norwalk High Gun Hoax

#Norwalk CT–2/20–At 10:43am Norwalk High School staff reported an incident to the Norwalk Police School Resource Officer (SRO) assigned to Norwalk High School. Staff reported that a student had informed staff that the student believed they had heard someone pulling the slide back on a handgun in a men’s room within the school at 8:30am. At no time did the student see a firearm and at no time were there any threats made. The SRO and an extra duty officer assigned to a daily security detail at Norwalk High School advised Norwalk Combined Dispatch and immediately conducted a search of the men’s room and the immediate area. The officers did not find anyone or any evidence during that search. Additional Officers and Special Victims Unit Investigators responded on the scene.  Norwalk High School staff placed the school into Protect-In-Place status. At this time no students were allowed to leave the campus or their classrooms and no one was permitted to enter the campus.  Investigators conducted interviews, reviewed security camera footage and devised an investigate action plan. Part of the plan was a coordinated early dismissal of all students which commenced at 1:30pm. All students were dismissed to the bus line, to their personal cars or to their parents/caregivers at the American Legion on County Street, which was designated as the reunification location. Once the school was empty and with the assistance of the Stamford Police Bomb Squad K9 Unit, the school was searched for firearms however none were located.

At this time the investigation has found no evidence to substantiate the complaint that was received this morning. No arrests have been made and at this time none are expected.  Norwalk High School staff is in the process of conducting a secondary search of classrooms, lockers and bags.  Norwalk High School will start at the normal time tomorrow and staff will assist students with retrieving their belongings left behind today. Norwalk News: Overdose Arrest

On October 8, 2017, at 11:12pm Norwalk Police responded to a drug overdose in an Uber at the intersection of Grist Mill and Route 7. Norwalk Hospital EMS revived the victim and transported the victim to the Norwalk Hospital. The victim was in possession of heroin, which later tested positive for Fentanyl. Norwalk Detectives initiated an investigation into the incident. The investigation, led by Detective Taranto, revealed that the victim had purchased the drugs from Kyle Lors. Based on the investigation, an arrest warrant was issued for Lors. Detectives arrested Lors without incident at his residence on February 8, 2018. Norwalk News: Firearm/Burglary Arrest

#Norwalk CT–On January 22, 2018, at 4:53pm, officers from the Patrol Division responded to a burglary at a residence on Hadik Parkway. Arriving officers ascertained that the suspects had fled the scene prior to their arrival. However, officers obtained a vehicle description and suspect information from the complainant, who was home during the incident. The complainant stated the suspects attempted to force open two exterior doors however, they were unable to gain entry into the residence. A short time later officers located the suspect vehicle stopped in front of 7 Midwood Road. Officers contacted the five occupants of the vehicle and initially arrested two of the five for the burglary attempt. During a search of the car, officers located a loaded .45 caliber pistol. All five occupants were arrested and charged. Two of the occupants were juvenile males, age 16 and 17. The juveniles were charged with Carrying a Pistol without a Permit and Weapon in a Motor Vehicle. Both juveniles were transported to Mead Hall in Bridgeport. The Norwalk Detective Bureau assisted with the investigation and learned that this incident likely stemmed from a drug debt owed by the complainant to Ryan Ventrella. Arrested: Ryan Vetrella, 18 of 7 Midwood Road Norwalk Donald Allen, 18 of 17 Holly Street Norwalk Joshua Meckley, 18 of 70 East Rocks Road Norwalk Charges: Criminal Attempt at Burglary 2, Weapon in a Motor Vehicle, Carrying a Pistol Without a Permit, Criminal Mischief 3 and Conspiracy.

Norwalk News: Charges After Pursuit

#Norwalk CT–On January 23, 2018, at 1:26 am, an officer from the Patrol Division observed a vehicle travelling on Water Street with significant front-end damage. Just prior to the officer’s observation an evading accident had been reported in South Norwalk. Suspecting this was the evading vehicle, the officer attempted a motor vehicle stop on the Stroffolino Bridge however, the operator refused to pull over. The vehicle accelerated away before pulling to a stop in the driveway of 35 Fort Point Street. The operator then fled on foot and a short foot pursuit ensued. The officer tackled the operator to the ground, where the suspect actively resisted arrest. Officers were able to subdue the suspect and take him into custody. Officers found the vehicle, a Nissan Maxima, was stolen out of Middletown, Connecticut.
