2019-07-28 @ 11:50PM–#Stratford Ct– #cttraffic– A motorcycle crash reported on I-95 southbound on the Moses Wheeler Bridge. No word on injuries.
On July 23, 2019 The Stratford Police Department responded to a report of a preteen who was sexually assaulted in Town. It was determined the preteen met the suspect through the social media application “Snapchat”. The suspect created fake profiles on several social media applications. Using the fake profile the suspect lured the preteen from a residence where he sexually assaulted victim. Detectives were able to identify the suspect as Reginald W Sharp (DOB 03/13/1985) of Bridgeport. Sharp is a convicted sex offender currently on the sex offender registry. During the late evening on July 23, 2019 Stratford Detectives with the assistance of the Bridgeport Police Safe Streets Task Force and State of Connecticut Department of Probation located and arrested Sharp. He was charged with Sexual Assault 1st Degree, Enticing a Minor Using a Computer and Risk of Injury to a Minor. He is being held on a $2 million dollar bond.

Parents should be reminded that they should closely monitor their children’s social media accounts on a regular basis as many social media applications can be havens for predators.

2019-07-25 @ 12:39pm– #Stratford CT– We hear a lot of “person down” calls, especially in the hot weather but this is the first time we are getting a person down call inside a port-a-potty at 245 King Street near the high school construction site. Come to think of it, I’m surprised we don’t hear more like this….

#Stratford CT–On 07-19-2019 Andre Larson age 19 of Bridgeport and Elijah Sampson age 20 of Bridgeport were arrested along with two local juveniles ages 14 and 15. The group was approached by an Officer who was investigating a complaint of cyclists who have been loitering in and near Longbrook Park blocking traffic and harassing residents. As the Officer approached the group fled on their bikes. While fleeing, the group rode through the park and splash pad area where small children were playing. Officers apprehended the group a short time later. Lawson was charged with Disorderly Conduct, Interfering and Violating Town Ordinance Reckless or uncontrolled Bicycle Operation. Sampson was charged with Disorderly Conduct, Interfering and Violating Town Ordinance Reckless or uncontrolled Bicycle Operation. The two juveniles were also charged with Disorderly Conduct, Interfering and Violating Town Ordinance Reckless or uncontrolled Bicycle Operation.

STRATFORD – The annual “Blues on the Beach” summer music festival is about to take place this Saturday, July 20, and this year a designated drop-off and pick-up zone has been established for the event located at Wayne’s Walk at the intersection of Riverdale Drive and Lighthouse Ave. This will serve as a designated drop-off or pick-up area for Uber, Lyft or taxis and other passenger services to accommodate their customers.
Those who are dropping off their children, seniors or the disabled can drop passengers at a designated location at the concession stand location.
The event opens to the public at 9:30 a.m., and performances begin at noon. The festivities will go until 9:30 p.m.
A police officer will be stationed at the location of Wayne’s Walk until 11:00 p.m. There will be temporary posted no parking extending approximately 75 feet from both sides of Wayne’s Walk.
In addition, residents attending “Blues on the Beach” are asked to note the following:
Extreme heat is being forecast for Saturday and temperatures could exceed 100 degrees. The Stratford Health Department has issued an advisory for the day. In consideration of the conditions residents are urged to exercise caution. The Police Activities League (P.A.L.) will be selling ice at “Blues on the Beach” to help combat the heat and raise funds for their fall programming. Ice will be available for $5 per bag until the supply runs out.

STRATFORD – Stratford is set for its annual “Blues on the Beach” summer music festival, which has become an increasingly popular summer ritual for the coastal town. The event will take place at Short Beach on Saturday, July 20th, from 12:00 pm-9:30 pm. Blues is part of the Stratford Celebrate Festivals and is run by volunteer, Erin McLaughlin.

Residents attending “Blues on the Beach” are asked to note the following:
· Beach access will be closed on Friday, July 19th at 7:00 pm, so preparations can be made.
· Bicycles are allowed but must be walked in the park area per Stratford Police Department.
· Parking is also available at the Army Engine Plant – South Parking Lot directly off of Main Street.
· No golf carts or other motorized equipment is allowed on the beach per Stratford Police Department.
· Residents must have a valid beach sticker to park at the beach. Non-residents will be charged $20 to park.
· No dogs or pets are allowed at the beach.
· A pickup and drop-off area for Ubers and children or family members has been designated at Wayne’s Walk at the intersection of Riverdale Drive and Lighthouse Ave.

#Stratford CT–On 06/19/2019 the Stratford Narcotics Unit, in coordination with the Bridgeport Police Task Force, Safe Streets Task Force and the Norwalk Police Narcotics Unit executed two Search Warrants for Narcotics and Firearms Violations. These Search Warrants were the culmination of an investigation conducted by the Stratford Narcotics Unit and the Bridgeport Police Task Force that focused on Narcotics Sales as well as Firearms related crimes within the Town of Stratford and City of Bridgeport. The Target of the Investigation, Manuel Rivas D.O.B 07/17/1989, was taken into custody after attempting to evade Detectives when they tried to conduct a motor vehicle stop. During a search of the residence, Detectives located two (2) firearms loaded with several rounds of ammunition as well as an amount of Crack and Cocaine packaged for sale. Rivas who is a convicted felon is unable to legally possess a firearm. Rivas was taken into custody and charged as follows: Criminal Possession of Firearm CGS 53a-217c (2 Counts) Criminal Possession of Ammunition CGS 53a-217 Operating Drug Factory CGS 21a-277© Illegal Transfer Firearm CGS 29-33* Poss.
