#Stratford CT—On 06/19/2019 the Stratford Narcotics Vice and Intel Unit, in coordination with the Bridgeport Police Task Force executed a search warrant for narcotics sales at 1450 South Ave Stratford CT. This Search Warrant was the culmination of an investigation that focused on Narcotics Sales as well as Firearms related crimes within the Town of Stratford.
The subject of the investigation, Courtney Dyce D.O.B 09/29/2000 was taken into custody as he was leaving the residence. During a search of the residence, Detectives located several ounces of marijuana and packaging. Additionally, Detectives located a stolen Smith and Wesson .40 caliber handgun which was loaded with several rounds of ammunition. Dyce is currently on probation for a previous firearms arrest from 07/04/2018 in which he was found in possession of (2) stolen firearms.

Stratford EMS (SEMS) has received the American Heart Association’s Mission: Lifeline® EMS Silver Plus Award for implementing quality improvement measures for the treatment of patients who experience severe heart attacks.
Every year, more than 250,000 people experience an ST elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI)the deadliest type of heart attack caused by a blockage of blood flow to the heart that requires timely treatment. To prevent death, it’s critical to restore blood flow as quickly as possible, either by mechanically opening the blocked vessel or by providing clot-busting medication.
The Mission: Lifeline initiative provides tools, training and other resources to support heart attack care following protocols from the most recent evidence-based treatment guidelines. Mission: Lifeline’s EMS recognition program recognizes emergency medical services for their efforts in improving systems of care to rapidly identify suspected heart attack patients, promptly notify the medical center and trigger an early response from the awaiting hospital personnel.
“Stratford EMS is dedicated to providing optimal care for heart attack patients,” said Michael Loiz, Director of EMS/911. “We are pleased to be recognized for our dedication and achievements in emergency medical care efforts through Mission: Lifeline.”

The Stratford Library, 2203 Main Street, announces that the Hudson Shakespeare Company of New Jersey will return to Stratford on Saturday, June 29 for its production of “As You Like It”. Performed outside in the library’s scenic back courtyard, the fully-staged and costumed performance is free and open to the public.
“As You Like It” is a celebration of the enduring power of love in all its many disguises. Witty, playful and utterly magical, the story is a compelling romantic adventure in which Rosalind and Orlando’s famous courtship is played out against a backdrop of political rivalry, banishment and exile to the Forest of Arden. “As You Like It” was written in 1599 and marks a high point in Shakespeare’s midcareer with sophisticated comedies.
“Being that it’s set in a forest with no new huge battles or court intrigues, the play lends itself really well to performances in parks and more intimate settings like libraries”, said Hudson director Jon Ciccarelli. “We decided to go back to basics with the show and set it in a medieval world full of pageantry, impromptu songs and love of the fairy tale world. The show is very musical so we’ve highlighted that with lots of live instruments and some recorded music” he added.
The Hudson Shakespeare Company’s presentation of “As You Like It” will be held in the Stratford Library’s back courtyard located in the rear of the library building off the Baldwin Center parking lot. Patrons are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets to spread. In the event of inclement weather or extreme heat, the play will move inside to the Library’s air-conditioned Lovell Room. The Hudson troupe will return in July with an all-female production of “Coriolanus”.

STRATFORD- Mayor Laura R. Hoydick announced Friday that the Town of Stratford has entered into a license agreement with the United States Coast Guard for the property at the Stratford Point Lighthouse. Under terms of the agreement, the Town of Stratford has use of the lighthouse property and associated buildings and structures, while the Coast Guard continues to operate and maintain the light. The Town agrees to maintain and upkeep the property and buildings. Payment from the Town for the agreement is a single dollar.
The Mayor says that she hopes to see the location become available to the public, and available to reserve for events and functions after some preparation and restoration is performed at the site.
“For generations the Stratford Point Lighthouse has served as the unofficial symbol of Stratford,” said Mayor Hoydick. “When many people think of Stratford, they think of this lighthouse – its iconic structure and appearance instantly recall the essence of this town. It is an essential part of our heritage and our history. I want to thank the United States Coast Guard for entering into this agreement with Stratford which will allow the public to have access to this previously secured property and its incredible scenic vista. I am delighted that we will be able to afford that opportunity to residents and visitors in the very near future.”
Mayor Hoydick stated that maintenance and upkeep of the grounds has already begun this week under the direction of the Department of Public Works. Plans include some restoration work to the keeper’s cottage, the oil house and the lighthouse itself – including a new coat of paint that will refresh the familiar white and red-striped façade.
During colonial times a bonfire was lit at Stratford Point, where the Housatonic River meets Long Island Sound, when a boat was expected during fog. In 1821, Congress allocated $4,000 to purchase four acres of land on Stratford Point from Betsy Walker, and a wooden octagonal lighthouse was constructed in 1822. It was only the third light station erected on Long Island Sound.
Congress appropriated additional funding in 1880, and a new forty-foot-tall, brick-lined, cast-iron tower was erected on the point, and a two-story, eight-room dwelling. The all-white tower was given the distinctive marking of a reddish-brown band around its middle on May 15, 1899, a distinguishing feature that remains to this day.
United States Coast Guard personnel continued to live on the premises until 1978, when automation was installed and the light was controlled remotely from Eaton’s Neck on Long Island. The Coast Guard resumed occupation of the site in 1982 to prevent vandalism and secure the location.

#Stratford CT–The Stratford Police Department investigated a distraction burglary on Broadbridge Avenue today. The incident occurred at approximately 1030 am when an unidentified male posing as a water company employee used fake identification to gain access to the home stating he needed to check the water in the residence. The homeowner escorted the suspect into the basement at which time two unidentified suspects entered the home and committed the burglary. The suspects fled the scene toward Winter Street prior to police arrival. #Stratford CT– The Stratford Police Department Detective Bureau received a child pornography complaint from the National Center for Missing Exploited Children during the month of February, 2019. Detectives conducted an investigation which led to the identification of John Kenneth Stone (DOB 10/03/1942). Stone is employed as a School Bus Driver with the Durham Bus Services. Detectives executed a search warrant at Stone’s residence in Stratford. During the search warrant the Stratford Police Computer Forensics Unit seized a laptop computer. A forensic analysis of the computer located a large number of images and videos identified as Child Pornography. On 05/23/2019 Stone was taken into custody. He was charged with Possession of Child Pornography in the First Degree 53a- 196d. Stone posted a $250,000.00 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on 05/31/2019.
