#Trumbull CT—The Trumbull Police Department was chosen to be one of only five police agencies throughout Connecticut to receive an award for “Efforts to Promote Officer Wellness Programs and Initiatives for Your Officers.” Several Trumbull Police Officers attended a training program that was sponsored by the Connecticut Police Chiefs Association in New Haven, CT and were recognized for their efforts. This “Serve Well, Be Well” training covered aspects of caring for officers from hire to retire and beyond.

 

The training discussed how important it is to learn from previous traumatic experiences. It explained how to prepare and handle the stress that officers are under, and the cumulative affect it may have on them from the time of the incident and years later. The training explained how others recovered both mentally and physically from a traumatic experience in which they experienced and how they may still be dealing with the affects.

 

A peer support team was recently formulated within the Trumbull Police Department. This team is comprised of a group of Trumbull Officers who are available to help fellow officers cope with stress or traumatic events in which they may have been involved. Officers interested in seeking peer support may feel more comfortable and open to speaking with a fellow officer and member of this peer support team through these difficult times because fellow officers may have a better understanding of what they are dealing with. All of the information that is discussed is kept confidential.

 

Trumbull Officer Timothy Fedor was recognized for his role in the peer support team, as a peer leader, and trainer. Sergeant Christopher Barton was recognized for his role in the peer support team, and as a peer leader. Sergeant Robert Coppola was recognized for his role in the peer support team. Chief Michael Lombardo was recognized for his efforts in getting the Trumbull Police Department involved in this program. To be recognized by the Connecticut Chiefs of Police Association as one of the leaders in this critical area of promoting health and wellness for officers is a great accomplishment for a police department.

2019-05-16 — #Trumbull CT–Trumbull Police held an awards ceremony on Thursday for the Trumbull Police Officers and civilians who work for the department and recognized them for the work they did over the past 3 years. Chief Lombardo said it’s important for the officers to be recognized for the good work they do and that its important for the town to know and see some of the work they do since not everything they do is reported in the news or social media. The chief said it’s important to let the officers know how much they appreciate the work they do.

An armed robbery occurred at the Trumbull Subway sandwich shop, located on Quality Street, on the night of Tuesday, May 14. A lone gunman entered the Subway and demanded money from the employees. The employees complied with the gunman’s demands before fleeing the shop. The robber fled with an undisclosed amount of cash. At approximately 9:23 p.m., the Trumbull Police were called to the Subway sandwich shop where they investigated this robbery.

Police learned that the suspect is a light skinned Black male, approximately 5’6” tall, dressed in dark clothing, who displayed a handgun. The suspect then fled the store in a southerly direction. No injuries were reported regarding this incident. The Trumbull Police Department is actively investigating this incident and requesting assistance from the public who may have any information regarding this incident. #Trumbull CT–The Trumbull man that died Friday evening following a motor vehicle accident on Daniels Farm Rd., near Heatherfield Dr., has been identified as Eric Gabrielson, age 54, of Oldfield Rd.Trumbull, CT. Gabrielson was driving a Toyota pick-up southerly on Daniels Farm Rd. when itcrossed into the northbound lane and struck the driver’s side of a Volkswagen Jetta that was traveling northerly. The impact caused the Volkswagen to spin around before coming to rest ona nearby residential lawn, and the Toyota eventually came to rest against a nearby residence.The Trumbull Police Traffic officers are continuing the investigation into this accident, assisted by Fairfield Police Department’s Traffic Division. As of this time, the cause of the accident is unknown, but officers are working to determine whether Gabrielson’s medical condition may have played a role in the accident.  (Trumbull Police Press Release)

Police UPDATE:

A two-car motor vehicle accident ended with the death of a Trumbull man. The resident, a fifty-four-year-old male victim was a resident of the Daniels Farm Rd. area of Trumbull. The Trumbull Police received several 911 calls, on Friday May 3, at approximately 7:00 PM, reporting a two-car motor vehicle accident in the area of Daniels Farm Rd. near Strobel Rd. A pick-up truck and a sedan collided, and the pick-up truck eventually came in contact with a nearby residence. The only occupant of the pick-up truck was entrapped inside of the vehicle, and bystanders approached to assist him prior to Trumbull Police arrival. Trumbull Police rendered medical aid to the victim and secured the scene. Trumbull Center and Nichols Fire Departments arrived to extricate the victim from the pick-up truck. Trumbull EMS also arrived on scene to treat and eventually transport the male St. Vincent’s Hospital where he later died.

 

The only occupant of the sedan suffered minor injuries and was transported to Bridgeport Hospital for evaluation. The Daniels Farm Rd. residence which was struck sustained minor damage, and the residents were not home at the time of the accident. Daniels Farm Rd. was closed between Strobel Rd. and Roosevelt Dr. during this accident investigation. The Trumbull and Fairfield Police Department’s Traffic Divisions are currently investigating this incident. The cause of the accident and cause of death have not been determined at this time. The victim’s identity is being withheld pending family notification.

#Trumbull CT– On Friday, April 5th, Trumbull Police Chief Michael Lombardo presented Madison Middle School 8 th grader, Amanda Lepore, with a Community Service Volunteer Award. This was to acknowledge her fundraising efforts to purchase stuffed animals for kids in crisis. Amanda, who is a member of the National Junior Honor Society at Madison Middle School, was assigned to create a Community Service Project. Amanda wanted to help children who may be going through a tough time but was not exactly sure how she could do that. Amanda then contacted the Trumbull Police Department to determine if her idea was something that she would be allowed to do.

 

Amanda met with Officer Fedor who strongly supported and welcomed her idea. Amanda then contacted her family and friends to seek donations for the stuffed animals that could be given to those kids in crisis. Everyone who she asked for assistance was willing to participate in her project. Amanda then set up an appointment to deliver the animals to the Trumbull Police Department, and that was when Chief Lombardo decided to thank her and present her with the certificate and award. Due to Amanda’s efforts, an officer will now have stuffed animals available to help comfort children during difficult situations that they may encounter. Madison Middle School has a School Resource Officer assigned throughout the school year, to aid in the safety of the school, teach various safety issues, and get to know the students and faculty.

#Trumbull CT– On Tuesday, April 16, Trumbull Police charged a Bridgeport woman for leaving her children unattended in a motor vehicle that was parked at the Hawley Lane Mall. A passerby observed two small children that were left unattended, which led to the arrest of Yonneisha Reed, 29 years old of Bridgeport. Reed’s two children, ages two and four, were left inside of a 2011 Mitsubishi Outlander, which was parked in the Hawley Lane mall parking lot.

 

At approximately 5:40 p.m., a Trumbull officer was flagged down to check on the children, and observed the children in car seats playing on a cell phone. The car door was unlocked, and the officer checked on their welfare at which time Reed arrived stating that she had only been away for five minutes while she was in the store. Reed was advised that children that young could not be left unattended for any length of time. She was charged with two counts of Leaving a Child Under 12 Unattended in a Motor Vehicle and was released on a Promise to Appear in court on April 29th
