Trumbull News: Overnight Theft From Cars Continues.

#Trumbull CT–Trumbull Police continue to investigate several thefts from vehicles that occurred over the weekend while the cars were parked overnight in residential driveways and other instances where cars were stolen from those same areas. On Saturday morning, March 16th, more than a dozen Trumbull residents of the Long Hill area found that their vehicles had been gone through and items stolen during the overnight hours. Most of these vehicles were left unlocked, and a few had the keys left inside. Two vehicles were stolen during this time, but were later recovered in Fairfield. One vehicle was found abandoned, while the other was occupied by three Juveniles and one adult, who were then arrested and charged with the vehicle theft. This recent crime spree has been a recurring pattern that is affecting the entire area. Police believe the suspects, usually teenagers in a stolen vehicle, travel in small groups into secluded neighborhoods during the late night and early morning hours. They stop and exit the vehicle, and prowl around a neighborhood checking for unlocked vehicles, searching for items to steal. When they come across a vehicle with a key left inside, they will often abandon the vehicle they came in and take the newly found one. The Trumbull Police continue to remind all residents to always lock their vehicles and never leave keys or valuables inside. Please report any suspicious activity as soon as possible to the Trumbull Police Department directly at 203-261-3665, or 911.

Moore Named Senate Chair of Human Services and General Bonding Committees

HARTFORD, CT – Senator Marilyn Moore (D-Bridgeport) today released the following statement after being named Senate Chair of the Human Services Committee, Senate Chair of the Bonding Subcommittee, and Vice-chair of the Committee on Children for the 2019-2020 legislative session:

“I am excited to get back to work on the Human Service and Children committees where my main focus will be moving forward on legislation to provide a Medicaid reimbursement for low-income families and strengthening our 2Gen model which is designed to help disadvantaged, low-income families sustain themselves by ensuring that both children and parents receive the services they need to succeed. I will also continue to support earned family medical leave, raising the minimum wage and pay equity for women.

“Being named Senate Chair of the critically important Bonding Subcommittee once again is a great honor. I was first named to this role in April 2018 and have since been able to secure grants and loans for projects in my district and across the state to boost economic development and for construction of buildings, schools, housing facilities, community care facilities, and state parks. This session I’ll be looking at various bond funding proposals in Bridgeport, Trumbull, and Monroe, including infrastructure improvements at Stone Ridge Complex and programs that address youth violence.”

Bridgeport News: Cop Finds Missing Senior Citizen

10:34pm–#Bridgeport CT– #Trumbull CT– How about some likes for Bridgeport Police Officer Mirtsopoulos (located right in the picture)  in locating a missing senior citizen?  A Trumbull man walked away from one of the local hospitals since early this evening.  The man was last seen around 8pm at Gamestop and Super Stop and Shop on upper Main Street wandering around.  Officer  Reilly (left in the picture) was canvassing the north end as well as the Trumbull Mall.  The family provided Reilly with a recent picture of the missing man.  Around 10:30pm  Officer Mirtsopoulos located the man on North Avenue near Clinton Avenue.  The man’s family was on scene and relieved he was found.

The temperature on my car’s thermometer said it was 34 degrees.  The man was transported back to the hospital to be evaluated.  Officer Mirtsopoulos was very humble and it took a lot of insistence on my part to get his name, he said he was just lucky he found the man and insisted it was a team effort to locate the man.  Way to go officers!
