Fairfield Little League Metro Returns Home to a Hero’s Welcome
Fairfield, CT – The Fairfield Metro Little League team returned home today after an unforgettable run on the national stage. The boys represented Fairfield and Connecticut with pride, battling against some of the best teams in the country and earning the admiration of fans near and far.
Families, friends, and supporters lined the streets to cheer on the players who brought excitement and unity to the community all summer long. In a special tribute, Acting First Selectman Christine Vitale, joined by the Governor and several state representatives, presented the team with a ceremonial key to the town, honoring their hard work and the pride they brought back home.
Though the tournament journey has come to a close, their determination, teamwork, and sportsmanship left a lasting mark. For Fairfield, this was more than just baseball—it was about community spirit, and the team’s return is being celebrated as a moment of pride that the town won’t soon forget.

Former High School Teacher Arrested for Sexual Assault
On 08-22-25, Shelton Police arrested 38-year-old Jason Kymer of Beacon Falls and charged him with Sexual Assault 2nd Degree, Risk of Injury to a Child, and Tampering with a Witness. Kymer was released on a $50,000 court set bond and given a court of 8-25-25 at Derby Superior Court.
The arrest stems from information received by police in June 2025. Police were made aware that Kymer, who was a teacher and coach at Shelton High School, was previously involved in a sexual relationship with a female who was a high student at the time.
Shelton Detectives were able to locate the female. The victim said that the sexual relationship with Kymer started when she was a 17-year-old student at Shelton High School. The victim told police that the sexual contact occurred in the school.
During the investigation, police were made aware that the victim received a call from an unknown number. The victim stated she blocked Kymer’s number, so when she answered the unknown number, after him speaking, she recognized it was Kymer’s voice. The victim stated Kymer told her “Just do the right thing.”

Brush Fires
Police received a number of calls of kids setting brush fires near exit 6 of Route 25 near Daniels Farm Road and near the Merritt Parkway split. Firefighters on scene and police are searching the area according to unconfirmed radio reports.

Norwalk Man Arrested After Threatening Victim with Ghost Gun During Argument
Norwalk Police arrested Bryan Andrade-Espinoza, 22, of Norwalk after a disturbance on Wall Street on August 18, 2025. Police say Andrade-Espinoza had been drinking at El Mexicano before getting into an argument with the victim, during which he threatened them and later brandished a firearm on Main Street. The victim was able to disarm him and toss the weapon onto a nearby roof, where officers recovered it—later determining it was an unregistered “ghost gun.” Andrade-Espinoza, who does not have a pistol permit, was taken into custody without further incident. He was charged with Illegal Carry of a Firearm While Under the Influence, Breach of Peace 2nd, Threatening 2nd with Physical Threat, Carrying a Pistol Without a Permit, and Illegal Possession of a Firearm with No Serial Number. His bond was set at $100,000.
