Gerber Family Issues Update onFirst Selectman Bill Gerber’s Recovery

Fairfield, Conn., July 8, 2025—First Selectman Bill Gerber continues his recovery from last
week’s surgery to remove a tumor from his brain. At the end of last week, he underwent a follow
up surgical procedure that was also successful. His medical team is pleased with the outcome.
The process of recovery from this type of surgery is complex. He is continuing to rest and
recover at Yale New Haven Hospital (YNHH). With the need for Bill to rest, his family has
requested no visitors for the time being. 
The Gerber family is so grateful for the many well wishes sent to Bill and will continue to provide
periodic updates.

Boat Wreck – 3 Rescued

A boat struck the rocks at Seaside Park, and firefighters rescued three people who were in the water following the crash. Marine units rescued a woman under the hull of the capsized boat. All three people were accounted for and transported to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

New Haven Man Arrested for Two Domestic Violence Incidents in Ansonia

2025-06-24@Ansonia CT – Darryl Giles, 35, of New Haven was arrested on June 24, 2025, on two warrants tied to domestic violence incidents involving the same victim. In the first incident on June 16, Giles allegedly forced his way into the victim’s home in violation of a protective order. In the second, on June 24, he is accused of again violating the order, entering the home and assaulting the victim, causing serious head and facial injuries. He faces multiple charges including assault, burglary, and two counts of violating a protective order. Giles was held on a total of $575,000 bond and arraigned at Derby Superior Court on June 25, 2025.

Fairfield Restaurant Week Returns with New Summer Format

2025-08-25 to 2025-09-07@Fairfield CT – Fairfield Restaurant Week is back for its 14th year with a brand-new format. The “Summer Edition” will run from Monday, August 25 through Sunday, September 7, featuring special prix fixe lunch and dinner menus at over two dozen local restaurants. Organized by Fairfield’s Office of Community & Economic Development, the event aims to celebrate and support the town’s vibrant culinary scene. A second “Winter Edition” is also planned for early 2026, giving food lovers even more to look forward to.
