#Bridgeport Connecticut– The city, along with U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal hosted a press conference about the shooting that left 13 wounded on Plymouth Street (off Boston Avenue). Detectives believe that there were at least two gunmen hiding in the bushes when the shooting began. There was a large party that was denied a permit by police earlier because it was a for profit party with the sale of alcohol. When they began shooting everyone including the DJ said it was fireworks, until they realized people were being shot. Eleven people had non-life threatening injuries. One woman is in critical condition and was transferred to Yale New Haven Hospital with a gunshot to her face. She will require reconstructive surgery and expected to survive. A man was also shot in the face which is not life threatening. U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal called for more gun control from congress. Police recovered 10 shell casing and believe the other gun might have been a revolver which does not discharge a casing. Police Chief Perez and Mayor Ganim asked anyone with information to call the confidential police hot line at 203-576-TIPS (8477). Mayor Ganim had a bloodied nose throughout the press conference and his right arm in a sling which he said happened during a basketball game. 9:11pm–#Bridgeport Connecticut– Firefighters quick response to a fire on the second floor of 1169 Iranistan Avenue prevented it from spreading to the entire multi family home. Firefighters made primary and secondary searches for anyone inside the home and found it empty. The children were huddled in an SUV across the street with their aunt as the watched firefighters work. They quickly had the bulk of the fire knocked down but had stubborn flames in the rafters of the roof. A firefighter emerged with the family dog. They worked feverishly to save the dog but the pup did not make it. They had the fire under control within the hour.

1:39am–#Bridgeport Connecticut– At least 13 people were shot at an outdoor house party on Plymouth Street. When I arrived on scene an officer confirmed at least 6 were shot. Many were driven by private vehicles to the nearby hospitals, many were transported by EMS. It was difficult trying to keep any count so the number can be higher. Police radio reports say there was a large house party in the backyard of 19 Plymouth Street when shots were fired into the crowd. Police found shell casings in a couple of backyards next to the house. Police did an outstanding job maintaining order and keeping the calm. There are no reported fatalities. Bridgeport Police along with with their K-9 and state police assisted to keep the calm of family members at Bridgeport Hospital. Fairfield Police dispatched their K-9 unit to St. Vincent’s Hospital.
