#Hartford State Senator Tony Hwang applauded the Connecticut State Senate’s bipartisan approval of the Republican budget proposal.

Three Democratic lawmakers joined Republicans in voting for the amended state budget, which passed by a vote of 21 to 15.

The amended budget now goes to the state House of Representatives for a vote

“Our plan moves Connecticut in a new direction,” Sen. Hwang said. “We want to generate a predictable, sustainable and transparent ecosystem where Connecticut businesses can thrive and grow. We can do it with no new taxes.

 

Bridgeport News: Police Have Their Hands Full

UPDATE: Bridgeport police said two officers were pepper-sprayed after a fight broke out at the site of last night’s murder.  Police say the confrontation began as crowds gathered for a vigil in memory of 19 year old Eric Diza who was fatally shot in the stomach at Newfield and Beardsley Street.  Chief AJ Perez says his heart goes out to the family  of the murder victim, and he hopes people will turn their energies to assisting them as they heal.  This was the city’s 20th homicide of the year.

 

9:27pm–#Bridgeport CT– Police calling for assistance, K-9 and the booking van at Newfield and Beardsley Street, the site of last night’s 20th homicide.  Apparently, a rally is getting out of control.

Westport News: Senior Shoplifter Gets Aggresive

#Westport CT–On 09/07/17 at approximately 5:00pm, Westport Officer Dan Paz was dispatched to 606 PostRoad East, Roundabout, for a larceny which had just taken place. Dispatch further advised that
the suspect, a white female in a white shirt, was getting aggressive in the store. Store employees stated a customer was caught attempting to leave the store without paying for merchandise. The suspect, Barbara Convertito DOB 07/12/1949, removed the tags off of merchandise by cutting a small hole around the sensor and secreted the merchandise in her purse. Convertito purchased no items from the store. When she attempted to leave, the manager stopped her and asked if she had anything she wanted to pay for. Convertito then tried to leave the store and pushed the manager.
The manager was able to lock the door so Convertito could not leave. Officers detained Convertito and learned her vehicle was in the parking lot. Officers searched the vehicle and found numerous high-end clothing items and shoes still with tags on them. The total amount of items taken was $1,171.98. Convertito was taken into custody and transported to Westport Police Headquarters. She was processed and charged with Larceny 4 th degree, Assault 3 rd degree and Possession of Shoplifting Device (3 pairs of scissors were located on her person.) Convertito was released on a $7,500.00 bond and has a court date in Norwalk on 09/14/17.

Bridgeport News: Bridgeport’s 20th Homicide Investigated

Last night at 10pm, Bridgeport Police Officers responded to the corner of Beadsley Street and Newfield Avenue on a report of  a person shot. They found the victim, Eric Diaz (DOB: 4/3/98 of 5 Yarrington Ct), shot in the abdomen. He was transported to Bridgeport Hospital by ambulance, where hours later he died. At this time, the motive for the homicide is unclear. Anyone with information should contact Detective Cintron at 203-581-5227.
