11:44am–#Bridgeport CT–Firefighters quick response kept this rubbish fire in check of a 3 bay garage in the 1100 block of Iranistan Avenue. The home was vacant from a previous fire. The fire marshal was called in to investigate.

Fairfield News: Win Streak Comes To An End
#Fairfield CT– The Fairfield 12U All-Stars’ run in the Eastern Regionals came to an end last Thursday as they fell 3-1 to the Lower Sussex All-Stars from Delaware. Connecticut went out to a 1-0 team and again threatened to put runs on the board in the 3rd when Delaware turned in a bang-bang double play. Anna Gedacht went the distance scattering 12 hits to keep the game close and Elena Ohe turned in the defensive gem of the year, landing herself atop the Sports Center top 10 plays on Thursday night.
The team of 11-12-year-olds had the best run of any Fairfield team dating back to 2012. They finish the postseason with an impressive 12-2 record. The players, coaches, families represented Fairfield and Connecticut in awesome fashion during the tournament. (Press Release)

10:02pm–#Bridgeport CT– A person shot in the foot just arrived at St. Vincent’s Hospital. Unknown where in town it may have happened or if it is related to the shooting incident on I-95 near exit 23.

UPDATE: State police say the incident at exit 29 is a matter involving a shooting not an accident. The one at 31 is an ordinary accident.

Bridgeport News: Boys Hit By Motorcycle Injured
7:34pm–#Bridgeport CT– A boy was seriously injured and in a lot of pain after being hit by a motorcycle or dirt bike at PT Barnum Housing near Anthony Street. The cyclist fled the scene.
5:32pm–Derby CT–#cttraffic–Report of a traffic accident on Route 8 southbound near exit 17. No word on any injuries at this point.

Westport News: Custodial Arrest
#Westport CT– On 07/23/2018 at approximately 9:30am, an officer observed a vehicle with an expired registration traveling southbound on the Sherwood Island Connector. A motor vehicle stop was conducted on Greens Farms Road. The operator claimed the vehicle he was driving belonged to his brother. He also claimed to have lost his license and provided officer’s a fraudulent name. The investigating officer checked the license of the name provided and observed the driver’s license photo did not match the operator of the vehicle, nor did the address. Officers later learned the operator was actually the registered owner of the vehicle, Lou Geneus, who was operating with a suspended driver’s license. Geneus was also unable to provide proof of valid insurance for the vehicle. Geneus was taken into custody and transported to headquarters where he was charged with 53a-167a Interfering with an Officer, 53a-130 Criminal Impersonation, 14-215 Illegal Operation of Motor Vehicle Under Suspension, 14-12(a)* Operate/Tow Unregistered Motor Vehicle and 14-213b Insurance Coverage Fails Minimum Requirements. He was released after posting $500 bond and is scheduled to appear in Norwalk Court on 07/30/2018.
