Westport News: Jobs Coach Returns

Westport, CT – Elaine Daignault, Director of the Department of Human Services announces the return of the American Job Center Southwest’s (formerly known as CTWorks) Career Coach at Westport Town Hall.  On Thursday, July 12 the Coach will offer a beginner’s class in Microsoft PowerPoint 2013 from 10 a.m. – noon, followed by an intermediate class in PowerPoint 2013 from 1 – 3 p.m.  The Career Coach is a “training center” tour bus equipped with ten wireless computer labs offering free computer classes to residents in the greater Norwalk area.  The mobile unit operates on a monthly schedule of visits to various community locations and is accessible to people with disabilities.

Area residents interested in registering should contact the Westport Department of Human Services at 203-341-1050 or via e-mail athumansrv@westportct.gov.   For more information, including the current Career Coach schedule, check the website for American Job Center Southwest at http://www.ajcswct.com.

Ms. Daignault stated, “I hope that by offering the American Job Center Southwest’s Career Coach in the Westport area, many residents who wish to improve their computer skills will find it convenient and useful in pursuing their personal goals.”

Norwalk Police Need Your Help

#Norwalk CT–On June 20, 2018, at 2:20 am a vehicle was burglarized in the parking lot of 7 Winfield Street. The suspect appeared to be wearing black Adidas pants with white stripes, a
white shirt with black markings on the sleeve and white ball cap. Anyone that can identify the individual or that has any information about the crime is asked to contact Acting Detective Haddy at 203-854-3011. Anonymous tips can always be left at any of the below contacts.

Bridgeport News: Fire-Neighbor Cited As Hero

UPDATE: A  Trumbull Avenue woman became trapped on the roof of the porch of her Cape Cod style home because she was sleeping on the second floor when the fire broke out. A neighbor ran and got a ladder to rescued her. Fire officials say the neighbors are heroes for saving the woman’s life. The woman was taken to the hospital, unknown injuries. The homeowner says he lost virtually everything in the fire.

 

 

11:39pm–#Bridgeport CT– A fire on the 2nd floor next door to 85 Trumbull Avenue.  An occupant of the building was transported to the hospital with smoke inhalation.

Bridgeport News: Person Shot Outside Of Tiago’s

2:00am–#Bridgeport CT– Right at closing time police received a call for shots fired outside of Tiago’s Bar and Grill at 211 State Street. The shots were fired from McLevy’s Green right across the street. EMS was called for a security person at Tiago’s who was trampled. A short time later a person arrived at the hospital shot in the back. A large area of State Street was taped off as a crime scene.
