1:44am–#Monroe CT– A homeowner on Shelton Road near Hillside Avenue heard what he thought was an intruder entering his home and allegedly fired at him. Several police officers arrived and did a thorough search of the home and yard but found nothing. EMS from AMR was on the scene but was not needed.
#Bridgeport CT– Ground breaking for the new Harbor Yard Amphitheater took place this morning after phase one of three is complete. Design one was design, structural engineering, final drawings and permitting. The new structure is expected to be twelve stories or one hundred and twenty feet tall, almost as tall as the People’s Bank Tower down the street on Main Street. Phase two will be demolition, site work and footings put in place. State three will spend $15 million with 258 construction jobs.
Jim Koplik of Live Nation Connecticut promises great talent to visit the amphitheater, Koplik also runs the Xfinity Center in Hartford. Koplick said the Arena at Harbor Yard is under utilized and he hopes to bring new business to them as well. The Arena has limited dates due to sports teams that play their home games there. The amphitheater’s projected opening date is in June 2019.
#Bridgpeort CT–This morning, detectives from the Fugitive Task Force arrested(DOB: 07/21/1987 of 114 Asylum St) for the May 24, 2018 shooting death of Willie Nance. Ragin is charged with Manslaughter in the First Degree, Carrying a Pistol Without a Permit, Illegal Discharge of a Firearm, Use of a Firearm for A,B,C Felony, and Criminal Possession of a Firearm. He is being held on a $350,000 bond.
UPDATE: 1:41pm–#Bridgeport CT– 3 Metro-North workers were injured when two trains “bumped” each other behind Bluefish Stadium. Firefighters were challenged to removed the injured patients because the tracks are elevated at that spot. So firefighters used their ladder truck and put the patients in a rescue basket to lower them down. All four tracks were shut down while the rescue operation took place. Train service has resumed. There were no civilians on the passenger trains.
1:38pm–#Bridgeport Ct–Two trains have “bumped” each other near the Ferry Dock. There were no passengers onboard but one employee is reported injured.
10:58pm–#Milford CT–#cttraffic–#Stratford CT–A crash on the Merritt Parkway southbound just prior to the Sikorsky Bridge. It sounds like the driver made it out safely. The fire can be seen in the photo, center.
10:33pm–#Bridgeport CT– Shots fired at River and Evergreen Street between two vehicles chasing each other according to radio reports. So far, no one or anything reported hit.
7:11pm–#Bridgeport CT– Firefighters on scene in the 800 block of Noble Avenue for a kitchen fire that extended to the back porch and attic. 2 lines are in operation.
