DoingItLocal is run by Steve Krauchick. Steve has always had interest with breaking news even as an early teen, opting to listen to the Watergate hearings instead of top 40 on the radio. His interest in news spread to become the communities breaking news leader in Connecticut’s Fairfield County. He strongly believes that the public has right to know what is happening in their backyard and that government needs to be transparent. Steve also likes promoting local businesses.

Fairfield News: Melville Mallard Rescue

12:02pm--#Fairfield CT--Just after noontime a passerby noticed baby ducks that had fallen in a storm drain in the Warde High School parking lot on the Knapps Highway side.   Firefighters used a milk crate attached to a rope  and small brooms to nudge them into the crate.  They continued ducking firefighters even after their capture  slipping from their grasp.  Eventually the firefighters were able to return them to the waiting mama duck.  The town will put the charges on the mother's bill, they do not suspect fowl play........ Bridgeport News: Detectives Arrest Suspect In Shooting

#Bridgeport, Conn. (July 14, 2015 Press Release) -- Detectives arrested a city man today in connection with a shooting Friday on Reservoir Avenue. Investigators charged Malcolm Dukes, 21, of Bridgeport, with criminal attempt at murder, first-degree robbery and gun-related charges. Investigators determined that Dukes, the victim and one of the victim's friends arranged to meet for a drug transaction. The victim, a 23-year-old Monroe man, was shot in the shoulder when Dukes attempted to rob him. The shooting happened at approximately 7:15 p.m. in the area of Reservoir Avenue and Alba Avenue. Police located the victim, who drove himself to a nearby gas station, and his friend a short distance away.  Neither man lives in Bridgeport.  Based on accounts to investigators, the men…

Bridgeport News: House Fire

4:40pm--#Bridgeport CT--Firefighters quick response time kept a fire from quickly spreading to the rest of the house at 148 Anson Street.  The fire was on the third floor.  Firefighters did a search and found no one inside the home.  Firefighters had it quickly contained but hots spots in the insulation remained until the removed it from the home.  The fire marshal was called to investigate.
