#West Haven CT– Tuesday I had a routine consultation with a doctor at the West Haven Veteran’s Hospital. When I arrived I saw dozens of orange shirts. Being the nosey report I had to find out what was going on. It turned out that Kelly from the North Haven Home Depot was leading her troops on their second trip this year to the hospital for Celebration for Veterans Campaign and dozens of volunteers from ten stores were installing pavers to make it more accessible for handicapped veterans. Kelly told me this was a district project but all the stores volunteer on the local level to give back to local veterans. What made this story special was there was no press release on this, they quietly do these projects without cameras or reporters. As a matter of fact I had to shoot this entirely off my cellphone because I wasn’t expecting to do a report at my VA appointment!
4:55pm–#Milford CT– A man has been trapped under a car tire at Granville Avenue. Firefighters have freed the man and awaiting EMS.

11:5opm–#cttraffic–#Trumbull CT– A police pursuit starting in Trumbull into Bridgeport for a BMW that got onto I-95 northbound and engaged state police in pursuit of speeds in excess when they broke the chase off. He was seen getting off exit 42 without police pursuit but the BMW wound up crashing into a fence off the exit. They fled on foot, police are looking for a black male driver and a white male passenger.

1:11am–#Fairfield CT–State Police received a number of 911 calls about a car being pushed off the highway and down an embankment, first thought to be around the North Benson Street area. Police quickly found the car near the on ramp northbound at exit 21. Many witnesses said it was a gray pickup truck which Fairfield Police quickly located at Grasmere and Post Road. The driver was arrested. I have no word on the condition of the other driver by a witness said they quickly had him in the ambulance taken to the hospital.
#Weston CT– State Police Spokesperson Trooper Kelly Grant confirmed that the remains found at 89 Northfield Road in Weston are in fact human. An unconfirmed but highly reliable source to DoingItLocal.com told us that the remains are in fact that of Jeffrey and Jeanette Navin. Jeffrey Navin, 56, is president of J&J Refuse, and his wife Jeanette Navin, 55 is a Weston Intermediate School library paraprofessional. They have been missing since August 4th. No word on any suspects at this time.
Police were cautious in confirming information. They did confirm that the remains of two people were found outside 89 Northfield Road. They did check inside the residence with the owner’s permission but found nothing. The house was empty for about ten years they said. They would not confirm any information if the homeowner knows the Navin family or if any clothing has been recovered.
#Weston CT- I have an UNCONFIRMED report from a highly reliable source that the bodies of Jeffrey and Jeanette Navin have been found in Weston. State Police confirmed they were searching on Norfield Road earlier today.. Metro North Railroad is reporting: The New Haven Line continued scattered residual delays of up to 30 mins due to earlier police activity near. Southport.
UPDATE: Fairfield Police told me that it was a woman who attempted to jump in front of a southbound train but the train was able to stop in time. She then was struck by a northbound Amtrak train headed to Boston. Metro North has taken over the investigation.
1:57pm–#Metronorth–#Southport CT–A pedestrian has been struck and killed while on the tracks at the Southport Train Station. Currently on track one is operational.
