Norwalk News: Larceny

On 9-26-22, the Norwalk Police Department received an initial forgery complaint, which developed into a lengthy and detailed investigation by Detective Ribisl for larceny.

Jennifer Hernandez had been employed as a caretaker for an elderly Norwalk resident for over ten (10) years, when the resident’s daughter discovered that her mother had been the victim of illegal withdrawals from her bank account, which had been overdrawn. Det. Ribisl determined that Hernandez had made over one hundred (100) illegal payments to her own credit card accounts using the victim’s account without authorization, totaling over $58,000.oo stolen from the elderly victim.Det. Ribisl applied for an arrest warrant which was granted for violation of Connecticut General Statute 53a-122, Larceny in the First Degree.

Jennifer Hernandez (8-23-1991) was arrested via said warrant today when she turned herself in, and was held on a $100,000.oo bond, with a 1-17-23 court date.

Norwalk News: Human Trafficking Arrests

#Norwalk CT–In January of 2021, the Department of Children and Families received an anonymous tip regarding the sex trafficking of juveniles in Norwalk. The Department of Children and Families notified the Special Victims Unit of the Norwalk Police Department and an investigation was launched by Detective Patrick English. After a lengthy and complex investigation, Detective English identified multiple victims and the two suspects, Teresa Martinez and Eugene Luini. On December 26, 2022, members of the Special Victims Unit arrested Martinez in the City of Bridgeport and Luini in the Town of Fairfield.

Norwalk News: Narcotics and Firearm Arrest

Information received leads to surveillance resulting in an arrest for a firearm and narcotics.
On December 13, 2022 the Norwalk Police Special Services Division received detailed information that
an individual was armed with a handgun and selling drugs in the South Norwalk area. Officers
conducted surveillance and located the subject who matched the information they were given.
The subject was safely detained and found to be in possession of a fully loaded Taurus semi-automatic
handgun, with its hammer cocked back. He was also in possession of crack cocaine, powder cocaine,
marijuana, scales and drug paraphernalia. Along with the above, the subject also had $22,785 dollars in
US Currency which was seized and will be applied for under asset forfeiture laws.
The subject was arrested and is identified as:

1 count Carrying a Pistol Without a Permit. CGS. 29-35(a)

Norwalk News: Kitchen Fire

#Norwalk CT- #ctfire– Norwalk Fire responded to a kitchen fire on 152 Westport ave. The call came in at 1222 pm. This was a five story elderly housing unit. One occupant was able to safely evacuate her apartment with no injuries.

There was fire & smoke damage to the apartment and water damage to the floors below. The apartment was posted unfit for occupancy, displacing one. No other injuries were reported, and the fire is under investigation

Norwalk News: Fatal Motor Vehicle Accident

#Norwalk CT– On 11-27-22, at 8:06AM, Norwalk Combined Dispatch received a 911 call reporting a motor vehicle accident on Dr. Martin Luther King Drive just south of Lowe Street. Norwalk Police, Norwalk Fire Department and Norwalk Hospital emergency Medical Service were immediately dispatched to the scene. Arriving officers found a single vehicle accident with four persons injured. Norwalk Hospital Emergency Medical Service transported three occupants to the Norwalk Hospital. One occupant was deceased at the scene. The identification of the deceased person is being withheld pending the notification of next of kin. Dr. Martin Luther King Drive remains closed between Lowe Street and Knapp Street.

Norwalk News: Shots Fired Locked In/Out Two Schools

2022-11-09@12:19pm–#Norwalk CT– One suspect is in custody and a firearm was recovered in a shots fired incident at Hemlock and Chestnut Street area. Two nearby schools are in lock in/out and the area is shut down from Merritt Street while police with K-9 look for the last suspect in a black hoodie.
