Car Stolen While Victim Pumped Gas in Westport, Police Investigating

Westport Police responded to the Exxon gas station at 485 Post Road East on January 20, 2025, at approximately 3:44 PM for a stolen vehicle report. The complainant was pumping gas on the passenger side of their black 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLS when a young Black male entered the driver’s seat of the vehicle. The suspect exited a car on Post Road East near the gas station before entering the victim’s vehicle without their knowledge. When the complainant tried to intervene by opening the driver’s door, the suspect drove off, causing the complainant to fall to the ground and sustain minor injuries.

The suspect fled the scene in the stolen vehicle along with a second vehicle, both heading north on Compo Road North. The complainant declined medical treatment for their injuries. Westport Police are actively investigating the incident and are attempting to locate the stolen vehicle. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Westport Police Department at (203) 341-6000.

Bridgeport Teen Arrested for depositing Fraudulent Checks Totaling Over $5,600 in Westport

On October 20, 2024, Westport Police began investigating a complaint about fraudulent checks totaling more than $5,600 being deposited from a business account. Using search warrants and ATM surveillance, Marvin Morales-Pablo, 19, of Bridgeport, CT, was identified as a suspect. An arrest warrant was issued, and Mr. Morales-Pablo was apprehended at his residence on January 8, 2025. He was transported to the Westport Police Department, charged with Larceny 3rd and Identity Theft 3rd, and held on a $100,000 court-set bond. Unable to post bond, he was transferred to Stamford Superior Court for arraignment on January 9, 2025.

Westport Firefighters Extricate Occupant After Crash on I-95

Early this morning, Westport firefighters responded to a serious motor vehicle accident on I-95 near Exit 18. Upon receiving the call, dispatch informed responding units that police on the scene reported one occupant still trapped inside the vehicle.

The initial dispatch included Engine 5, Engine 4, Rescue 3, and the Shift Commander. Upon arrival, Engine 5 reported a single vehicle had veered off the roadway, sustaining significant damage. Firefighters confirmed one individual was trapped inside the wreckage.

Crews quickly stabilized the vehicle and utilized battery-operated rescue tools to remove the roof, allowing for the rapid extrication of the occupant in less than 10 minutes. Westport EMS provided immediate medical care on-site before transporting the patient to the hospital.

As a safety measure, firefighters deployed a protective hose line during the operation. Meanwhile, Connecticut State Police (CSP) and Westport Police Department (WPD) remained on the scene to investigate the crash and manage traffic control.

The last fire department unit cleared the scene at 5:13 a.m. No additional details about the occupant’s condition were available at the time of this report.

Westport News: Deer Rescue From Ice

At 6:49am Fairfield County Regional Dispatch center received a call for a deer that was trapped in the ice. The Westport Fire Department responded with an Engine, Rescue, Shift Commander, and Safety Officer. Responding companies found a deer stuck in the ice of the Saugatuck River near the Post Road.
Members from the Rescue Company utilized cold water rescue suits and equipment to enter the river and successfully remove the deer. The deer was able to walk away into a wooded area.

Westport Firefighters Contain Vehicle Fire Extending to Garage

Westport Firefighters were dispatched to a report of a vehicle fire at a residence on Sturges Hwy. The initial dispatch was for two Engines. Dispatch upgraded the assignment to a structure fire response advising the fire was extending to the house. Two additional Engines, one Truck company, and the Shift Commander responded.

E6 arrived and reported a vehicle fire with extension to the garage and declared a working fire. The crew from E6 stretched a hose line for extinguishment and began fire attack, minimizing fire spread. The crews from Truck 1 and Engine 2 checked the interior for fire extension, which was limited to the garage exterior. Remaining crews provided overhaul, utility control, and water supply.

There were no reported injuries, and the incident is being investigated by the Westport Fire Marshal’s office. Norwalk and Wilton fire departments provided mutual aid station coverage. The Fairfield fire department responded to the scene as RIT.

Westport firefighters were assisted on scene by WPD and WEMS. The last unit cleared at 10:01 PM.

Arrests made in Stolen Motor Vehicle Case

On December 22, 2024, at approximately 2:57 PM, Westport Police responded to a residence on a stolen vehicle report. The complainant reported they pulled into their driveway and went inside while leaving their vehicle, a 2020 Bentley, running in the driveway. While inside, the complainant witnessed unknown suspects steal his car from the driveway. Westport Police observed the vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed but did not pursue. The vehicle was outfitted with a tracking device and ultimately recovered in Elmhurst, NY, by members of the NYPD. NYPD also made an arrest of two individuals who were in a different stolen vehicle traveling with the stolen Bentley.

This incident comes on the heels of a release that was sent out last week regarding a burglary near Compo Beach. Although not confirmed, Westport PD has a working theory that the victim in this case may have been followed due to the value of his vehicle.

Westport Police continue to implore individuals to lock their cars and homes, be cognizant of their surroundings, and report any suspicious behavior to Westport Police.

Westport Police Investigating Attempted Home Break-In Near Compo Beach

address near Compo Beach after a resident called 911 to report that someone was breaking into their
home. The Westport Police Department arrived quickly and identified a vehicle that was involved,
but the vehicle fled and eluded Police. At this time, the incident is under investigation, and it
appears the thieves were confronted prior to stealing anything.
