Shortly after 11pm Thursday night a report of a motorcycle colliding with a car at the northbound entrance of the Merritt Parkway shutdown the Black Rock Turnpike in both directions until approximately 4:30am as police investigated the accident.

Police tell us initial investigation lead them to believe the white BMW was driven a 53 year old woman driving from home from the Patterson Club on Cross Highway.  The motorcyclist, a 25 year old man from Ludlowe, Mass. was traveling south on Black Rock Turnpike and attempted to “drop his bike” about thirty yards ahead to avoid the collision with the car.

During the day this intersection is busy with traffic but at night the traffic decrease significantly and the lights at the intersection switch to blinking yellow on Black Rock Turnpike and blinking red on Congress Street.  The accident remains under investigation.
