Bridgeport News: Ganim Asks For State Police Help From Governor

#Bridgeport CT---Video Report: Today, mayoral hopeful Joe Ganim has written a letter asking Governor Dannel Malloy for help in providing state police officers to supplement city police officers following an increase in gun violence.  Ganim is concerned that the city of Bridgeport Police's staffing level is at a low while it will take another eighteen months to bring staffing levels back up to full force.

Fairfield News: Metro North To Stop Trains

5:15pm UPDATE: #metronorth--#Cttraffic--#Fairfield CT    UPDATE: Trains have resumed, fire on the tracks are out and all fire personnel have cleared the tracks. 4:55pm--Metro North trains are being halted as a result of smoke on the tracks, cause unknown.  Police say it is behind Lacey Place which is near Southport Brewery.   No word on what they are smoking......   Did you know our sponsor not only has the best Italian Ices but ice cream and sundaes too!

Bridgeport News: Courthouse Evacuated

11:44am--#Bridgeport CT--The Golden Hill Courthouse on Golden Hill Street has been evacuated for a report of a white powdery substance.  The fire alarm also went off, possibly to evacuate the building.  I went to the scene and found no firefighters on scene other than the shift commander.  They could possibly be staged elsewhere but I did not see them.  I have a call into the Bridgeport Fire spokesperson for official details.

Bridgeport News: Attempted Armed Robbery @Payless Shoes

4:09pm--#Bridgeport CT--Two males attempt to rob the Boston Avenue Payless Shoes.  They attempted but failed to grab money from the register and fled the store on foot towards Glenwood Avenue.  Police are looking for two black males, one tall wearing a white tank top, jeans and black sunglasses.  The other is shorter, white shirt caring a plastic bag, he was the one with the gun.   This report sponsored by:
