UCONN Game at Arena Will Cause Traffic Delays

Bridgeport Police are asking all ticketholders and NCAA Women’s Basketball fans to give themselves ample time to arrive and park at the Webster Bank Arena for tonight’sNCAA Womens’ Basketball Eastern Regional Final between the UCONN Huskies and the University of Texas Longhorns.  The inclement Weather and rush hour traffic could cause delays to fans arriving for the game.  Tipoff for the game is at 7:00 p.m. with the Arena opening its doors at 6:00 p.m.   Once again, Bridgeport Police will be directing all NCAA attendees headed to the game exiting Route 8/25 Southbound left on East Washington at Main Street to Water Street, then straight to arena.  Electronic signs will be in place directing traffic at those locations.  …

Westport Yute Commission Seeks Nominees For Community Service Award

  Human Services Director Barbara Butler has announced that the Westport Youth Commission is seeking nominations for the annual James S. Bacharach Service to the Community Award. “All qualified high school seniors from Westport are  eligible for this award,” said Butler.  “This honor, given to one or more high school seniors from Westport, recognizes their significant community service contributions in our town.” Citations have been given annually since 1989 as a tribute to the late James S. Bacharach, founder and past-president of the Youth Adult Council, predecessor of the Westport Youth Commission which Bacharach and other concerned citizens founded in 1974. “Eligible nominations must demonstrate the student’s exemplary leadership ability and high standards of community service to Westport,” Butler said. “Either adults or students may nominate a deserving high…
