5:30pm–#Bridgeport CT– Firefighters on scene at 408 Poplar Street. where a mop was set fire in the elevator. A fire was set in the elevator yesterday as well. Fire marshal and police called to investigate.

3:11pm–#Bridgeport CT– A woman was stabbed in her apartment at PT Barnum Housing in building 21 on the second floor. The woman who assaulted her jumped from the 2nd story balcony and may have broken her leg. She may have been transported to the hospital in a private vehicle. The victim was talking with first responders and her injuries are not thought to be life threatening.
#Bridgeport CT–Today State Senator Tony Hwang, The CT Community Nonprofit Alliance (The Alliance) & The Kennedy Center and held a press conference in the Gallery of the Maggie Daly Arts Cooperative (MDAC), 1042 Broad Street, Bridgeport, to talk about how the state can avert devastating cuts to human service programs and save $1.3 billion over the next five years.
The majority of Connecticut’s human service programs are provided by nonprofit, community-based agencies like the Kennedy Center, that contract with the state. The State also provides some services for individuals with developmental disabilities and mental health and substance abuse treatment at significantly higher costs.
The Alliance is Connecticut’s statewide association of community nonprofits, which serve over 500,000 people each year and employ almost 14% of Connecticut’s workforce.

There will be a craft supplies swap at the Fairfield Wood Branch Library, 1147 Fairfield Woods Drive on Thursday, April 27 from 6 pm until 7 pm.
Do you have leftover craft supplies that are taking up space? Skeins of yarn, ribbon buttons, or fabric left over from that Pinterest project that turned out wrong? We will be accepting craft supplies in good condition, separated into Ziploc bags or other storage containers on Monday, April 17 from 9:00 a.m. – 4:30 pm. Collection will continue Tuesday, April 18 from 9:30 a.m. until 5:00 pm. Join us on Thursday, April 27, to swap for some craft supplies you can use. Remaining craft supplies will be donated to the downUnder Teen Center and the Craft Salon.
