6:16pm—#Bridgeport CT– A hawk that has been terrorizing the neighborhood on East Main and Hickory Street was captured in the 200 block of Hickory Street by a DEEP Wildlife Conservation Officer. He was assisted by Bridgeport Animal Control and Bridgeport Police. Police received a number of calls for the hawk swooping down on people throughout the day. Two witnesses told me that the hawk did not appear to be attacking but trying to land on them, but the hawk’s sharp talons wound up injuring them. One person was admitted to the hospital around 1pm. The bird was watchful as people went by. It is speculated that the bird may have been injured and looking for human assistance. When I asked the Conservation Officer how he knew the capture would go down as easy as it; did, he answered he didn’t but hoped for the best which was the outcome. He said he will check the bird for injuries when he gets the bird to animal control.
