Garage Fire at Howard Avenue Bridgeport

Just before midnight a Bridgeport Police Officer on routine patrol discovered this garage on fire at the corner of Beechwood Avenue and Howard Avenue. They soon reported the exact location as 1159 Howard Avenue. As firefighters were on the way they also let the firefighters know that there was another garage right behind it that was of brick construction and wood roof on fire yet but firefighters did not let that happen. Lack of Funding Affects USS Lincoln Refueling and Complex Overhaul

WASHINGTON (NNS) -- The aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72) refueling complex overhaul (RCOH) will not start due to a lack of funding, the Navy said. Lincoln was expected to move to Newport News shipyard next week to begin the overhaul. However, as a result of the fiscal constraints resulting from the ongoing continuing resolution (CR), the contract for the refueling complex overhaul (RCOH) has not been issued to Huntington Ingalls Industries, Inc. In Monroe Taking Home Roadkill is ‘Pretty Common’

When a young woman accidentally hit a deer with her vehicle on Webb Circle last month, her father asked police if he could take the roadkill home for dinner — a scenario that Monroe Animal Control Officer Edward Risko says is not at all unusual. "It's pretty common," he said. "It's one of the options. We can sign it off to a passing motorist or to the driver who struck the deer." The Monroe Patch has the full story here.....

Editorial–As Fairfield’s Random Act of Kindness program declared by First Selectman Tetreau winds down, I hope our act of kindness is to give the Fairfield Police a half way decent contract. The police in Fairfield have served in TWO hurricanes a blizzard, and were one of the first on scene in Newtown to give support without a contract. I have to ask why is Fairfield anti union? They strung the firefighters out on their contract for a long time, heck even the nurses union. Fairfield has a proven track record of being anti-union, from the First Selectman Tetreau to a lot of members on the RTM. Forget a pay raise, did you know that the Fairfield Police haven’t had a…

Fire At Congregation Beth El Fairfield

On February 14, 2013 at 1:48 PM the Fairfield Fire Department was dispatched to a report of a fire in a room at Congregation Beth El on Fairfield Woods Road. In addition to the initial 911 caller, a police officer on patrol in the area also reported seeing heavy smoke coming from the roof of the building. Initial arriving fire personnel found a natural gas fed HVAC unit on fire on the roof of the building which created a moderate smoke condition inside the building. All students were evacuated from the school and were kept in a safe location along with teachers in accordance with the schools emergency plan prior to the Fire Department’s arrival. 2/14 Bridgeport CT--A teen from Laurel Court was jailed after threatening to shoot his mother after she complained about him bringing a gun into the house. Marquise King, 18, was arrested Monday and held on $250,000 bond. Officers responded to the home at 6:47 p.m. on a threatening complaint. According to witnesses, King threatened to shoot his mother after she confronted him about having a firearm in the house when she has young children. After the threat, the women hid in a closet and called 911. Police arrived and detained King without incident and, after getting consent to search the house, police recovered a .357 Magnum handgun, a box of .38-caliber bullets, five .357-caliber bullets and one .22-caliber round.
