DoingItLocal is run by Steve Krauchick. Steve has always had interest with breaking news even as an early teen, opting to listen to the Watergate hearings instead of top 40 on the radio. His interest in news spread to become the communities breaking news leader in Connecticut’s Fairfield County. He strongly believes that the public has right to know what is happening in their backyard and that government needs to be transparent. Steve also likes promoting local businesses.

2 Houses Catch Fire On Orchard St.- Bridgeport

Just before 3am a police officer on routine patrol spotted two houses on fire on Orchard Street. The fire appears to have started in a vacant building (the yellow house) and then jumped to the house next door which was occupied. Assistant Fire Chief Ismael Pomales told us they got ahead of the fire and did not let it get ahead of them. The fire appears to have started in the back left corner of the yellow house and then spread through out the house and to the house next door. The Red Cross was originally called to the scene but soon cancelled. No firefighters or civilians were injured in the blaze and fire officials have begun their investigation into…

6/16/2012 10pm--Bridgeport--Man stabbed in the neck at 1213 Park Avenue.    Initial reports sound like the wound is serious, victim being transported to St. Vincent's Hospital. 1:21pm--Bridgeport--Child struck by a car at 115 Sherwood Ave (between Fairfield Ave. and Wood Ave.) while driving their bicycle.    Fire department on scene, police and EMTs on the way.  Injuries do not sound too serious as the reduce the code to normal travel for incoming first responders. 1:00pm--Bridgeport--Police investigating a burglary at 68 Park Street. 12:49pm--Bridgeport--Police are investigating an assault at Capitol Ave. and Parrot Ave.  Victim had bleach thrown in their eyes.  Not a lot of details on this.  EMTs on scene. 2:00am--#Bridgeport--Rowdy crowd nets a couple of arrests at Tiago's on State Street.…

Fairfield--After a report of five dogs being killed by coyotes in town we thought it import to rerun the video Lt. Lawsuit Filed Against Apple’s Siri Technology

A federal class action lawsuit against Apple saying Siri commercials are “fundamentally and designedly false and misleading.  The  lawsuit filed by Frank Fazio asked Siri for directions to a certain place, or to locate a store. Siri either did not understand what he was asking or after a very long wait time responded with the wrong answer.”    In its motion to dismiss, Apple said that its website identifies Siri as beta technology, a work in progress.   Read full article here......

Passing of Fireman Jospeh Fitzpatrick

It is with heavy heart that we learned the passing of Joseph Fitzpatrick, a 23 year veteran of the Waterbury Fire Department and owner at Fire Tech Consultants.  Joe was a constant contributor on Facebook on all things important to firefighters. Joe's Obituary in the Waterbury Republican reads: "WATERBURY — Joseph William Fitzpatrick, 60, of 557 Washington Ave., died Sunday, June 10, 2012, at Saint Marys Hospital after a brief illness, surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Kathleen (Walsh) Fitzpatrick. Joseph was born in Waterbury Feb. 4, 1952, son of Irene (Krolitski) FitzPatrick of Waterbury and the late Joseph William FitzPatrick Sr. He last worked as an insurance inspector. Fire Damages Abandoned Factory In Bridgeport

Shortly after 8:30pm Tuesday evening firefighters were called to Stratford Avenue and Kossuth Street for a structure fire. It turned out the be the former AGI Rubber Comanpy at 141 Stratford Avenue, the building which according to the sign is under foreclosure. A report filed by Tom Cleary of the Connecticut Post interviewed Assistant Fire Chief William Hathaway who said "the fire got into the walls of the building and spread".
