President’s Teleprompter Stolen

A truck filled with President Obama’s podiums and audio equipment was stolen in Henrico just days before his visit to Chesterfield Virginia. When you see President Obama speak, there is a pretty typical setup including the presidential seal on a podium, the see-thru Teleprompter and a portable sound system. Thieves saw the truck carrying that equipment and couldn’t resist the target. We confirmed an investigation with the U.S. Defense Department. There are still a lot of questions.   Read full story….

We Unite Dementia Mom With Family!

“I listen to radio broadcasts from police, fire departments and EMTs in many towns simultaneously, especially late at night when the action is really happening to report to the public” says Stephen Krauchick of DoingItLocal.com Tonight Fairfield Police were called to a local diner for a large fight inside the restaurant. Police quickly responded and requested an ambulance to the scene. While that ambulance was on the way at 2:59 a.m. from American Medical Response Ambulance (AMR) , AMR ambulance 7127 requested their dispatch to inform Bridgeport Police of an elderly woman sitting in the middle of the medium at North Avenue and Dewey Ave. wearing a flowered top and dark pants. AMR Dispatch makes the announcement. Ambulance 7126 doubled back after hearing the dispatch, having seen her earlier looking through store windows in Fairfield near the Bridgeport line. At 3:03am Fairfield Police received a call from the woman’s family on Tunxis Hill Road near Greenfield Street reporting that his 84 year old mother, afflicted with dementia was missing from her home. Earlier he drove around looking for her to no avail.

Ambulance 7126 finds the woman and calls back to dispatch to make sure Bridgeport Police send a Spanish speaking officer respond to the scene. Fairfield Police reports back to officers that are looking for the woman reporting that she use to live on Madison Terrace in Bridgeport, but she is not familiar to the Fairfield area. They also report she is Portuguese speaking only.

Stephen Krauchick, owner of DoingItLocal.com knew that “at this point I was positive both towns are talking about the same woman. That’s when I called Fairfield Police to inform them I think AMR has their woman. Within minutes the radio confirms from AMR and police that it was the same woman and she and her son were quickly reunited!”

By 3:12am Police calls AMR 7126 that Fairfield Police were on their way. AMR 7126 reports that the family members already showed up. DoingItLocal.com’s Stephen Krauchick responds “In my opinion we have great police and EMTs in both Bridgeport and Fairfield. It was a matter of time before the two were reunited; but when you are missing a loved one time and peace of mind seem like an eternity. I actually had a similar situation not too long ago with one of my children missing.”

The woman did not require any medical treatment and was quickly reunited with her family within minutes from the son’s first call to Fairfield Police Department. Krauchick said “At DoingItLocal.com our job is to inform the public of the happenings in the area, whether it is an opening of a new business, the concert scene or helping police and families. I’m so happy to be able to help!”

Gopher Ice Cream of Fairfield Closes For Good

In an online post President  Jay Ragusa said: “I am sad to announce Gofer Fairfield has sold its last cone. Unfortunately we had to shut down the location. It was a risky move opening in a town so far from our existing customers in Greenwich, Stamford and Darien, but a chance we were willing to take…..While Gofer Fairfield was off to a great start, soon afterwards four other yogurt shops decided to open in town”.   Ragusa continued  “I would like to thank our many crew members and the Kleban Family for believing in us and allowing Gofer the opportunity to open in town.”
