Water Infrastructure Work to Begin in Bridgeport Water Main Replacement Project Scheduled to Start in Early May 2026 Aquarion Water Company continues to perform essential work on infrastructure necessary to ensure continued system reliability. The water main replacement project is scheduled to begin in early May 2026 on Abner Court, followed by Albermarie Street, Ameridge Drive, Cherry Hill Drive, D’Eramo Place, Glendale Avenue, Jewett Avenue, Marconi Avenue, Martha Place, Plankton Street, Primrose Avenue, and Ruth Street. The project is expected to be completed by May 2027. Final paving will then be scheduled in coordination with the City of Bridgeport. Bridgeport Police Conduct Nightclub Compliance Checks The Bridgeport Police Department began 2026 compliance checks of nightclubs on Friday, April 24, to determine if they have the proper licenses and permits. The checks started with clubs on the East Side and will continue throughout the city through the summer. A special detail of supervisors and officers checked five establishments on East Main Street on Friday night. The managers and owners were given packets on how to properly register as a "nightclub" under Chapter 5.88 of the Municipal Code of City Ordinances and were advised on how to complete the application. Bridgeport Police Arrest Armed Suspect After Confrontation on Stratford Avenue

On April 26, 2026, at approximately 7:10 PM, Bridgeport Police were dispatched to the intersection of Stratford Avenue & Union Avenue on the report of armed suspect(s) in the street stopping citizens in their vehicles. Upon arrival, uniformed officers observed one male suspect brandishing a handgun. That suspect was on foot, repositioning himself around an occupied pickup truck, while he pointed the firearm in the direction of responding officers. The suspect refused officers commands to drop the weapon. The occupied vehicle then sped off, eastbound on Stratford Avenue, as the suspect tried to hold onto the vehicle.
