Black Rock Day Canceled

#Bridgeport CT--Given the current COVID -19 environment, and not knowing what the next month or so will bring us in terms of socialization – the Black Rock Community Council has decided, with a heavy heart, to cancel Black Rock Day for this year.  We do this with the utmost concern for the health and well-being of our community.   Please be assured, we are actively working on new ways to bring the community together during this time and to celebrate our wonderful neighborhood – with initiatives big and small.  So, stay tuned!   This press release was made possible by:

Puerto Rican Council Provides Dinner For AMR

#Bridgeport CT-- How about some likes for the Puerto Rican Parade of Fairfield County who provided dinner form the Original Vazzys to show their appreciation for the first responders at American Medical Response (AMR)?  Thanks to Aimee Roberts, Maria Ines Valle, Bill Schietinger, and the Puerto Rican Parade Executive Board for coordinating this event.  AMR is on the frontlines working professionally and putting themselves at risk on a daily bast and the PRPFC thanks them for their service.   Please don't rain on their parade.  I know there are other front line workers that haven't been recognized in the post.  If you want to buy lunch or dinner for them please do and send pictures and a write-up and I'll…

ABCD Receives $20,000 Grant

#Bridgeport CT--ABCD, Inc. recently received a $20,000 grant from Fairfield County’s Community Foundation (FCCF) to help the most vulnerable in our communities pay bills during the COVID-19 crisis. ABCD plans to use the granted funds to help people most affected by the pandemic by supporting them with a one-time financial support of up to $200. With the increased cost of COVID-19 related expenses, households earning below 125% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines may be eligible for this support to pay for food insecurities, utility bills, rent payments, and childcare expenses. Interested applicants must live in Norwalk, Bridgeport, Westport, Fairfield, Stratford, Trumbull, Monroe, or Easton. Bridgeport News: Water Rescue

2020-04-20@8:41pm--#Bridgeport CT-- Firefighters were called for a water rescue t 8:41pm for 3 fishermen trapped out on the rocks at Seaside Park.  At 9:40pm firefighters reported on the radio that the 3 are now onboard and on the way to the Ferry Dock.  EMS was called to check for their well being.  None of them fell into the water but the water temperature was 38 degrees.  As you can see in the picture they were not 6 feet apart and only one of them was wearing a face mask.
