On 08-13- 2017 shortly after midnight a shooting occurred on the street in front of 1854 North Avenue. The shooting followed what appeared to be a verbal argument. One 27 year old female victim was pronounced dead at Bridgeport Hospital. A 24 year old male victim is listed as critical as the result of a gun shot wound. The incident is still under investigation and police are trying to identify the shooter(s). The shooting is an isolated incident and there is nor further danger at the scene. North Avenue was closed for several hours as a result of the shooting and subsequent investigation. 12:34am--#Bridgeport CT-- Tonight's vehicle fire was hosted by Bridgeport at Norman and Beechwood Avenue. The bed of the pickup was on fire and called in by police on patrol. Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire.
#Bridgeport, CT – Bridgeport Police are announcing that early this morning, Latrel Baker (DOB: 10/15/96 of 575 Burnsford Ave) was arrested and charged with Manslaughter in the First Degree in connection with the April 30th death of Victor Diaz. He is the being held on a $150,000 bond and is the second person charged in this case. This relates to an incident on April 27, 2017 when Bridgeport Police responded to Saint Vincent's Hospital on a report of an assault. According to witnesses, Victor Diaz (DOB: 9/12/1990) was assaulted by several friends at Dewhirst Street and Baker Street, during which he suffered an asthma attack.
