Bridgeport, CT – Mayor Joe Ganim today announced that the Bridgeport Office of Emergency Management and Homeland Security will activated the city’s cold weather protocol tomorrow through Saturday morning December 17, 2016 at 6:00 a.m. This means all Bridgeport public library branches and senior centers as well as the Greater Bridgeport Transit Terminal will be open during the day as warming centers. Bridgeport, CT – Mayor Joe Ganim today is reminding city residents and businesses that this week, downtown Bridgeport will see changes as new, smart parking meters will begin to become operational. Trenching, electrical work and other logistical and infrastructural changes have been taking place on several downtown Bridgeport city blocks in preparation for the meters to start working. By the end of the week, it is expected that two dozen of the new meters will begin working and when current work is complete, a total of 111 state-of-the-art parking meters in the central business and government district downtown to be fully operational. 9:05pm--#Bridgeport Connecticut--Just after 9pm Monday night, a shooting occurred at the intersection of Stratford Avenue and Union Avenue in front of A&J Variety store. At 19 year old male was struck by gunfire and was transported by private vehicle to Bridgeport Hospital, where he is listed in critical condition. A crime scene exists at the shooting location, and the Detective Bureau Identification Unit is processing the scene.
