(Bridgeport, CT – June 24, 2013) – A city man was charged with first-degree assault Sunday after he allegedly slashed an acquaintance in the face over a debt.

Officer Dave Rivera and John Carrano responded to the intersection of Noble Avenue and Ogden Street at 6:44 p.m. and found the victim, Jorge Gomez, 39, with a laceration to his left eye.  The victim stated that an acquaintance, Roberto Gonzalez, 29, of Bridgeport, confronted him over a dice game and during the ensuing argument slashed him with a blade.

Police left the hospital and were en route to the scene to look for Gonzalez when they were alerted that he was waiting at Police Headquarters. When officers asked him what happened, he said that Gomez owed him money, refused to pay him and then attacked him. He said he struck Gomez in the eye before fleeing.

Gonzalez was charged with first-degree assault and second-degree breach of peace.

11:11am–#Bridgeport CT–A report of three kids playing unattended in the swamp area of Gilman Street at St. Mary’s by the Sea.  No ages indicated but I use to play at a pond unattended when I was young as 8.  My age group brags we played outside until the street lights came on.  Do you think people over react today?

11:39pm–#Bridgeport CT–Tonight’s car fire is reported to be at Colombia and Ridge Ave.  Don’t go to sleep yet Bridgeport, here come the fire trucks!

10:52pm–#Trumbull CT–#cttraffic–Report of an accident on Route 8 southbound between exits 11 and 10, injuries reported.

7:55pm–#Seymour CT–Report of a rollover accident at Elm and Wooster Street.  First responders just arriving.

1:22pm–#Fairfield CT–Despite no swimming signs posted police were called to the cascade area of Lake Mohegan in Fairfield this afternoon for three people swimming in the area.  Two people, two years in a row have drowned in the lake.  Last year was ten year old Catherine Perez Trujillo from Bridgeport and in 2011 it was 32 year old Frank Mazzabufi, of Shelton.  There is no swimming in this area due to dangerous currents and drop offs in the area.

10:59pm–#Norwalk CT–Report of a car crashing into a home at 171 Perry Avenue.  There are injuries according to dispatch. UPDATE–First firefighters arrive reporting down wires as well.

2:10pm–#Bridgeport CT–EMS asking for EMS assistance from police in the 200 block of Dover Street for a woman who was bitten by another person…….

8:08pm–#Monroe CT–Police on scene at Monroe Turnpike and Wheeler Road with an accident  multiple injuries.
