Bridgeport Police Update: At 11:24 pm, Bridgeport Police were dispatched to 320 Dewey Street for a one car collision versus a utility pole. The twenty-six-year male operator was driving a 2002 Honda Accord north on Dewey Street when he veered right into a United Illuminating pole snapping the pole in half where a transformer fell into a nearby commercial lot. He was transported to Saint Vincent's Hospital. A forty-three-year female was transported to Bridgeport Hospital and reported in stable condition. Rear seat passenger, sixty-one-year-old male, transported to Saint Vincent's Hospital where he was pronounced deceased at 02:41. He suffered severe head trauma and traumatic cardiac arrest. 9:14am--#Bridgeport CT-- A bridge construction worker fell from the Arctic Street bridge. The assistant fire chief told me it took firefighters just 12 minutes from the time of arrival to bring the man up from the waterway. He fell from metal catwalk about five to six feet onto rocks, concrete, and the waterway. The man did not have any visible injuries but he was grimacing in pain so he may have internal injuries and was transported to the hospital. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) was nearby at an incident at Bridgeport Hospital where a man fell through the hospital's roof. OSHA was on the scene within thirty minutes.
UPDATE: On 09/07/2017 the Shelton Police Department responded to the Shelton High School on a report of an unwanted person. Upon arrival School Officials reported that they were requesting, Nichelle Smith, who was a substitute teacher to leave the school property. Smith left the grounds without any confrontation and was advised not to return to any Shelton School Properties including the Board of Education building or she would be subjected to arrest on criminal trespassing charges. Approximately a half hour later Shelton Police were dispatched to 382 Long Hill, Shelton Board of Education, on a report that Smith was on the property. 8:00am--#Bridgeport CT-- A construction worker fell through the roof at Bridgeport Hospital. The assistant fire chief told me he fell about ten to twelve feet and suffered unknown injuries. Firefighters and EMS from AMR helped extricate the man to the emergency room of the hospital. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) was called to the scene to investigate.
