Westport News: Porch Fire

At 11:24 am this morning the Westport Fire department was notified by a passerby that the front porch of a Franklin Street residence was on fire. Fortunately, an occupant was alerted who began applying water and saved the multi-family  residence from being taken. Fire department personnel continued applying water to the burning porch and performed salvage and overhaul while the Fire Marshal’s Office investigated the cause. There were no reported injuries and the cause of the fire was determined to be discarded smoking materials. Please use the proper receptacles for discarded smoking materials and open burning of any kind is not allowed in the Town of Westport without a permit. Bridgeport News: Man Shot

10:49pm--#Bridgeport Connecticut-- A gunshot victim just showed up at St. Vincent's Hospital.  The person says he was shot on Connecticut Avenue but uncertain of the exact location since he is from New Haven.  Police say he is not cooperating.  Where the person was shot or his condition is now known at this time.   This report is made possible by:

Bridgeport Police Investigate 2nd Serious Crash

5:49pm--#Bridgeport Connecticut-- In a matter of hours police are investigating a second serious crash on the East Side, this time on Seaview Avenue between Deacon and Holly Street. 3 people were taken to the hospital with serious injuries. Witnesses said the blue car sideswiped two utility poles prior to hitting the red car. It is thought the elderly driver may have had a medical episode. Police said speed was NOT a factor but like they said if both cars were traveling at 30mph and hit head on the impact would be significant.
