Stratford News: Tobacco Compliance

On June 20, 2016 the Stratford Police Department and staff members of the State of Connecticut, Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS), Tobacco Prevention and Enforcement Program (TPEP), conducted  anannounced compliance inspections of establishments that sell tobacco products. The inspections were performed in an effort to determine compliance with state laws concerning the prohibition of the sale of cigarettes and/or tobacco products to youth under the age of eighteen. Under the direction and supervision of DMHAS investigators, an underage youth employed by the Tobacco Prevention and Enforcement Program, entered the establishments and attempted to purchase tobacco products.  A total of nineteen (19) unannounced compliance inspections were conducted. Westport News: Larceny

In April of 2016, Westport Officers were dispatched to Stop and Shop, 1790 Post Road East, on a report of shoplifting. A female was caught on video surveillance placing beer and energy drinks into her cart, then leaving the store without paying. Officers were able to identify the female as Nickie Thompson because she committed the same crime in Bridgeport. A warrant was submitted to court for Larceny 6 th degree. On 06/21/16, Officers responded to the Milford Police Department and took custody of Thompson for the active warrant. She was also processed for a Failure to Appear warrant and held on a $10,000.00. Fairfield News: Man Stabbed – Manhunt

UPDATE:  Fairfield Police Press Release: The victim said that while walking (midnight) he was confronted by the suspect on Kings Hwy under the I-95 underpass across from the Staples Plaza.  We spoke to the victim who gave a description of a light skinned Hispanic male, wearing a black hooded sweat shirt with the hood up covering his head and face and khaki pants that had taken his cell phone. The victim stated that he had gotten home from work via the train and was walking home from the Fairfield Metro Station. He walked across the front parking lot of The Staples Plaza, crossed the street (Kings Hwy E) and as he walked under the I-95 underpass the Hispanic male grabbed his cell phone.
