Senator Murphy Calls For End To Raids
WASHINGTON – U.S. Senators Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) and Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) joined their colleagues Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL) and Senator Patrick Leahy (D-VT) and 22 Senate Democrats in calling for an end to deportation raids targeting families and unaccompanied minors who have fled the rampant violence in Central America’s Northern Triangle. In a letter to President Obama, the senators also urged the Administration to designate Guatemala and re-designate El Salvador and Honduras for temporary protected status, allowing individuals from those countries to legally remain in the United States. “The solution to this regional humanitarian crisis is to address its root causes. #Bridgeport Connecticut--11:49pm--6/7/2016-- A black 2011 Audi S5 was observed by polie cutting the gore area of Route 25/8 south at exit 2. The Audi was stopped at the bottom of the exit 1 ramp. During the course of the traffic stop probable cause was developed to search the car. The search yielded the seizure of over 2.3 pounds of marijuana, 52.1 grams of concentrated THC, a large sum of money, digital scales and drug paraphernalia. The driver, Christian Scott was arrested for drug posession and drug sale charges. He was released on a $5,000 surety bond.
Mayor Ganim Announces New Leadership in the Bridgeport Fire Department
Bridgeport – Mayor Joe Ganim today announced a new leadership team for the Bridgeport Fire Department, naming Richard Thode to the position of provisional Fire Chief and Lance Edwards to the position of Deputy Fire Chief. Thode, a 29-year veteran of the Bridgeport Fire Department, had been serving as Assistant Fire Chief and succeeds Brian Rooney, who retired as Bridgeport Fire chief last month after a 44-year career in the department. Mayor Ganim has also named decorated Stratford Fire Department Veteran Lance Edwards as the new Deputy Chief of the Bridgeport Fire Department.
