#Hartford, CT. – On Thursday, April 7, Hartford child care workers and parents in the Fight for $15 will gather at Mt. Olive Child Care Center and call on elected leaders to invest in affordable, quality child care and strong workforce. U.S. Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro will then join the workers in a roundtable discussion on Connecticut’s child care system. A new report by the Economic Policy Institute released this week found that a national investment that caps families’ child care expenditures at 10 percent of their income could help more women join and stay in the workforce, boosting national GDP by about $210 billion and putting $3B into Connecticut’s economy . 10:58pm--#Bridgeport Connecticut--Police on patrol discovered a car fire at the M&F Auto Body Shop on North Avenue and called the fire department. Within minutes of the firefighters arrival they quickly had the fire extinguished as with most car fires. You can see that trash was pushed under the fencing to start the blaze. The intersection was closed for a short amount of time but it caused no delays in the area.

There was a walk down memory lane at the Fairfield Public Library with author Patti Woods as she presented her book “Lost Restaurants of Fairfield” as part of the What’s Cooking Series at the Main Library, 1080 Old Post Road recently. Malloy today announced that he is banning non-essential state-funded travel to Mississippi, following that state’s enactment of a discriminatory law that allows businesses and nonprofit groups to refuse service to people based on their sexual orientation and gender identity.
