Bridgeport News: Community Gardens Office Torched

9:37pm--#Bridgeport CT--Firefighters were called to a fire at the corner of Yaremich and Reservoir Avenue, almost immediately police received a call that the fire had been deliberately set and to begin an investigation. When firefighters arrived they reported the structure was fully engulfed in flames. Firefighters had quickly knocked the fire down and was checking for hot spots when I arrived about ten minutes later. Multiple witnesses told me and police it was "Jimmy the Crackhead" started the fire. The community was upset because the structure was the office for their community garden. The neighbors were upset because this was something of theirs that gave them enjoyment and a sense of pride in the community. Police are investigating. Os…

On Friday March 13th, 2015 Officers observed two individuals acting suspiciously in the downtown Westport area. Surveillance of the area was conducted and as the two individuals walked into the parking lot, one of the subjects was observed to be carrying a large amount of clothing concealed under his jacket. The two individuals entered a vehicle and shortly after drove away. Officers conducted a motor vehicle stop with the suspects on Riverside Avenue. Observed in plain view in the rear of the vehicle was clothing from a local store and security sensors which had been cut and lying on the floor. The vehicle occupants could not provide receipts for the clothing and it was later confirmed as stolen merchandise from the downtown store. The total…
