First Selectman Mike Tetreau announced that the United Illuminating Company (UI) began work on a pilot program to trim or remove trees that began on Monday, March 30, 2015. The pilot program will take a several months to complete. UI will begin with only one crew at the corner of Congress and Burr Street and continue to work their way North on Burr Street to Aran Hill. Eventually UI will have another crew available in the Mill Plain area. Governor Looks To End School To Prison Pipeline

#HARTFORD, CT – Governor Dannel P. Malloy visited the Sarah J. Rawson School in Hartford to highlight the school’s success in disrupting the pathway to the juvenile justice system through Connecticut’s School-Based Diversion Initiative (SBDI). Expansion of the SBDI program into the six school districts with the highest arrest rates for school offenses is part of Governor Malloy’s Second Chance Society legislative package. "We need to end the school-to-prison pipeline, because our focus should be on building modern classrooms, not modern jail cells. 9:59am--#Fairfield CT--Fairfield Firefighters responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident with injury involving a large truck on I-95 NB near the Exit 23 off ramp. Lt. Patrick Barry arrived on scene and reported the driver trapped and unresponsive inside the cab of a roll-off trailer truck. The truck collided with the Kings Hwy overpass, causing damage to the bridge, prior to striking the guard rail and coming to rest on its drivers side. Fairfield Engines 1, 2, 4, and 4, Ladders 1 and 2, Cars 1,2,3 and 5 responded to the scene. Fairfield Police, State Police, State DEEP, State DOT, and CTR (Connecticut Tank Recovery) responded. Westport News: Pot With A Punch!

#Westport CT-- On Wednesday, April 1, 2015, at approximately 4:45pm, Westport Police Officer Kevin Smith stopped a vehicle on Post Road East near the Fairfield Town line. Officer Smith detected a strong odor of Marijuana in the vehicle so a K9 was requested to the scene. Officer Smith and K9 Officer Wells from Fairfield Police located two mason jars in the vehicle containing a substance known as DAB, or HONEY OIL. This oil is a high concentration of THC, the chemical responsible for the psychological effects of marijuana. The total weight of the oil was nearly 400 grams, with an estimated street value of over $30,000.00. The operator, identified as Ceslo Valle, was arrested without incident. He has a court date at Norwalk Superior Court on 04/13/15…
