Both men ran into a wooded area, one jumped a wall and should have sustained an injury due to the height of the drop and the other man ran into the pond. Torched car almost causes 5 families to be homeless
10:29pm–#Bridgeport CT–A car intentionally set on fire almost left 5 families homeless tonight. Firefighters were called to a car fire in the driveway of 53 Butler Street. When firefighters arrived they observed the fire had extended to the outside exposure of 47 Butler (left house) and 53 Butler (right house). A quick response time and quick action by the firefighters prevented the fire from extending into the houses.
Witnesses told me that the fire was intentionally set by sticking a gas soaked rag into the gas tank, then pouring gasoline around the car before igniting it. “I heard a loud pop and then I saw the flames.” “A message was sent tonight” another witness told me “because if they wanted to kill someone they would have done it later when everyone was sleeping”.
The police and fire marshal was called to the scene to investigate further. The only damage was to the cars and the exterior of the two buildings. No injuries were reported.
Bridgeport Fire
7:01pm–#Bridgeport CT–Firefighters were on the scene once again at the vacant house at the corner of Madison Avenue and Madison Court–6 Madison Court. The house has been the seen of numerous fires which complicated attacking the fire tonight with many holes in the floors and missing staircases because of the previous fires. Firefighters had the fire under control within twenty minutes. There were no reports of any injuries. Christmas Eve 2012 a fire there took the life of Omar Chirinos, a homeless man who had been squatting in the building. The building still has squatters calling the building home.
