2:25pm–#Bridgeport CT– Report of smoke coming out of the Black Rock Dollar Store at 2075 Fairfield Avenue. The firefighters on scene have discovered this smoke is due to an electrical short.

11:08am–#Bridgeport CT– Report of an odor of natural gas in the parking garage by St. Vincent’s, at 2800 Main Street.

Major fire and building collapse at 464 Howe Avenue. People were trapped in the building and I heard as many as 8 people are in critical, 2 non critical but this has NOT BEEN CONFIRMED. As I was leaving I heard EMS called for 2 more with chest pain. The massive building has collapsed in many sections. News12 was arriving as I was leaving so they may have this footage. Howe Convenient, Petal Pusher among many other business no longer are there. Mutual aid from all over the state have assisted. Firefighters had to deal with lowered water pressure due to a broken water main next door at the building at Subway. Tanker truck from as far as 20 miles were called in to assist. Power in the downtown area was also terminated.

Busy Fairfield Firefighters
5:49pm–#Fairfield CT–Firefighters are busy. Within the last 15 minutes they received a call for a garage fire reported by the homeowner on Sasco Hill Road, they quickly recalled but remained on the scene for a period of time. Now off to the condos at Montauck Street for a grill fire. Now off to Bed Bath and Beyond for report of a smell of smoke reported by an employee. Local 200 Announce Tentative Agreement With Bridgeport
#Bridgeport CT– The City and Laborer’s International Union of North America, Local 200 have signed a tentative agreement which calls for union members to take 6.5 furlough days to achieve the union’s targeted goal of $91,021 in savings to the City.
So far, Unaffiliated workers, LIUNA and the Typographical (Printer’s) Union are taking furloughs to help close the $2 million budget gap.
“Our membership voted overwhelmingly to work with the City, agreeing to take furloughs to help close the budget gap and avoid potential job losses for our members,” said Cory Bromley, LIUNA Local 200 Business Manager.
“Thank you to LIUNA members for stepping up to the plate and being leaders to assist us in closing the budget shortfall,” said Mayor Bill Finch. “We are continuing our negotiations with other City unions and look forward to similar decisions in the coming weeks.”
