Gunman Dies After Being Shot By Bridgeport Police
9:44pm-#Bridgeport CT–A city police detective shot and wounded an armed suspect during a confrontation in The Hollow Monday night. The suspect later died at the hospital.
The incident happened near the corner of Pequonnock Street and Benham Avenue. The detective was inside Golfinho’s Fish Market when he was alerted to a report of a man with a rifle outside the establishment. The detective exited the store and observed the suspect armed with a long gun in a confrontation with two other people. The detective then drew his weapon.
The detective fired at least two shots and wounded the suspect, who fled on foot. He was located a short distance away. Police recovered a rifle at the scene.
Per protocol in police-involved shootings, the State Police were contacted and are handling the investigation. The department also alerted the Bridgeport State’s Attorney’s office, which responded to the scene.
Hazardous Condition

5:40pm–#Stratford CT–Police are looking for two males for breaking into cars on Jackson Avenue. One is wearing a white hoodie and the other wearing a trash bag……..
TV on fire
5:30pm—#Bridgeport CT–Report of a TV on fire at 1690 Iranistan Avenue. Homeowner reports to firefighters that they thew the TV on the front lawn. Firefighters on the way. EMS on the way for the homeowner who burned their hands in the process of throwing out the burning TV.
Child left in car
5:23pm–#Norwalk CT– Firefighters on the way to Marshall’s on Connecticut Avenue to unlock a vehicle with a child left inside. No word on the child’s age.
Jobs Program For Developmentally Disabled
State Rep. Tony Hwang – ranking leader of the Government Administration & Elections (GA&E) Committee support proposed Senate Bill 761 recently during the GA&E public hearing. Providing testimony for the bill was Bill Gill, the director of marketing for the Kennedy Center of Trumbull. The Kennedy Center provides individually designed person-centered planning for disabled citizens. “The Kennedy Center has been supporting citizens with disabilities for the last 60+ years,” said Gill. “But it has been a lot more difficult to support them in the last 5 years due to the state of the economy.”
Potatoes leads to rhubarb between brothers
(Bridgeport, CT – April 1, 2013) — Two brothers were released without bond after a disagreement over potatoes led to a confrontation after they did not see eye to eye
Officers Carlos Pabon and Pasquale Speranza were sent to a Brewster Street address Sunday afternoon on a report of two brothers fighting.
William Downey, 53, of Stratford, stated he was in the kitchen making potatoes when his brother, John Downey, 57, stated he was making too many potatoes and punched him.
John Downey, of Milford, admitted to throwing a punch at his brother and also stated that William Downey had pulled out a cooking pot and tried hitting him with it.
William Downey acknowledged that he in fact wielded a pot and tried to hit his brother with it but only after his brother had thrown the punch at him.
Both brothers were arrested for disorderly conduct and released on promises to appear in court . Mr. Potatohead not available for comment.
