Fairfield Racoon Found With Rabies
On March 13, 2013 the Connecticut Department of Public Health Laboratory notified Fairfield Health Department that a raccoon collected in the Hill Farm Road area of Fairfield did test positive for rabies. The raccoon did come in contact with a household pet and that pet had an up-to-date rabies vaccination. Because of this, the Fairfield Health Department is reminding residents to be alert for animals in local neighborhoods that appear to be suspicious. Neighbors within a half mile of where the raccoon was collected have been notified via Code Red. This area notified is more that 15 times the average range of a raccoon.
It is important to remember that any mammal can get rabies, whether wild or domesticated. In the United States, the most common wild animals that carry rabies are raccoons, skunks, bats, foxes, and coyotes. However, cats, dogs, and cattle also are susceptible to the virus.
Armed Robbery
6:02pm–Bridgeport CT–An armed robbery just occurred at Madison Avenue and North Avenue by 3 teens ages 14 to 18, two were on bikes. One youth displayed a gun. The fled down North Avenue towards Fairmont Avenue.
Slashing in Bridgeport

11:15pm–#Milford CT–Police and firefighters are looking for a boat in distress in the area south of the library. The boat they are looking for is “The Widow Maker”, I kid you not. 11:29pm–UPDATE: The boat has been located and all is fine.

Stratford Gas Leak
#4:39pm–#Stratford CT–Firefighters are on the way to Hollister Avenue near I-95 for a report of an outdoor odor of gas. Milford did call Stratford that they are tracking an odor of gas near I-95 but have not located the source.
Depressing Day?
A lot of suicide attempts in the area today. We won’t report specifics but a Fairfield man today was rushed to the hospital after intentionally swallowing anti-freeze to end his life. Firefighters in Bridgeport cut down a person who attempted to hang themselves, performed CPR and saved their life. In one town a 13 year old was transported for evaluation for suicidal thoughts and in another town (towns intentionally not posted) another 13 year old intentionally attempted to overdose on her psychiatric medication. There appears to be an increase in psychiatric calls but earlier in November 2012 Governor Malloy cut $80 million to health and human services.
Police Investigate Intentional Gas Break
