Bridgeport Police said in a statement: “At approximately 6:00pm, there was an officer-involved shooting in the area of Kossuth Street and Beecher Street. At this time, the Inspector General’s Office is taking over the investigation. By state statute, all further information will come from their office.”

Bridgeport Police Department Call for Service 25-26791 / Bridgeport Police Officer-Involved Shooting / 1400 block of Kossuth Street, Bridgeport, CT

On March 31, 2025, at approximately 5:50 pm uniformed Bridgeport Police officers responded to the 1600 block of East Main Street on reports of a large street fight.  Suspects involved in the fight were reported to be in possession of firearms.  A short time later, Officers responding to the area observed a suspect vehicle near the intersection of Kossuth Street & Beecher Street where they attempted a felony motor vehicle stop.  A suspect quickly exited the vehicle and led at least one uniformed police officer in a foot pursuit along Kossuth Street.  The foot pursuit ultimately proceeded into a driveway within the 1400 block of Kossuth Street where an officer-involved shooting occurred.  A firearm was recovered at the scene (driveway – 1400 block of Kossuth Street).  The suspect was transported to Bridgeport Hospital where he underwent surgery.  He was pronounced deceased later that same evening.

When a police officer employs deadly force in the line of duty, it is imperative that a thorough and impartial investigation be conducted. Pursuant to the Connecticut Police Accountability Act, the Office of the Inspector General, in collaboration with the Connecticut State Police Western District Major Crime Squad will lead this investigation.

Bridgeport Police Chief Roderick Porter Sr. has full confidence that the Office of the Inspector General will ensure a transparent, comprehensive, and unbiased review of this incident. Any loss of life is a profound tragedy, and we extend our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased.

In accordance with departmental policy, the Bridgeport police officer(s) involved in this incident will be assigned to modified duty under the Chief’s Office pending the Inspector General’s final determination.

Bridgeport News: Bouncer Shot

2019-11-10@9:37pm–#Bridgeport CT—According to radio reports, a bouncer was shot in the stomach at the Perfections Lounge at 1603 Barnum Avenue. The shooter fled down Barnum Avenue down Elizabeth Street according to those same radio reports. I’m still waiting on an official report of the shooting last night on Bond Street from police spokesperson Terron Jones and I don’t expect this to be any different. It’s not me or the Connecticut Post he is not reporting to but you, the taxpayer who is not being properly informed, and just 4 days after election day….

Bridgeport News: Suspect Shot By Police Identified

#Bridgeport News: The 18 year old male involved in the police shooting on Woodmont Avenue last night is identified as Austin Carr (6/7/98). Carr resides at 416 French Street, Bridgeport. Carr remains hospitalized at Yale-New Haven Hospital. Attached are photographs of the facsimile firearms seized from Carr and the juvenile perpetrator.

 

Bridgeport News: Arrest Made In Suspicious Death

#Bridgeport News: On February 8th, 2017, Bridgeport Police were dispatched to Bridgeport Hospital emergency room on a report of a death with suspicious circumstances. Robert Jones was found deceased at 304 Dover Street, and was transported by medics to Bridgeport Hospital. Detectives processed a crime scene at 304 Dover Street on February 11, 2017 and found several indications, and physical evidence that a crime had likely occurred at this location. The OCME later determined that Jones’ death was caused by blunt force trauma to the head. On March 23, 2017, Detective Cintron secured a warrant for the arrest of Tynisha Hall (1/26/82) of 304 Dover Street. Hall is charged with 53a-54a Murder and 53a-155 Tampering with Evidence. Bond is set at $750,000. While taking Hall into custody at her home, she resisted arrest and was additionally charged with interfering with police. Hall is the niece and was the caretaker of Jones, who was disabled.

Bridgeport News: Armed Robbery at University of Bridgeport

2:44pm–#Bridgeport Connecticut– Police are investigating an armed robbery in the University of Bridgeport campus according to police radio reports at Atlantic and Myrtle Street.  Police are looking for a 6’3″ 220 pound black male wearing a blue work hoodie and black pants.  The victim was pistol whipped and robbed of $850 in cash.

Bridgeport News: Citgo Station Robbed…AGAIN

The Bridgeport Police Department Robbery Squad is asking for assistance in identifying a perpetrator responsible for an armed robbery that occurred on 03/10/2016.  The incident took place at the Citgo Gas Station located at 915 Reservoir Avenue, Bridgeport.  Hey, at least the guy put his cigarette out before entering the store as seen at the start of  the video!
