[caption id="attachment_5012" align="alignleft" width="268" caption="Manhunt ends at Westport’s Playhouse Square"][/caption] A Fairfield Police Officer on routing patrol heard a “ping” on his LoJack device which tracks stolen vehicles.  He located the vehicle at the I-95 southbound rest area.  Before back up arrived the pursuit was on, at times exceeding speeds of 100 mph.  Traffic was light and the suspect got off exit 18, on the connector and on to the Post Road to Hillspoint Road where stop sticks were used and then along Compo Mill and then Compo Beach.  As the car turned from Compo Road South and headed west on Post Road East it rear ended a Bentley driven by Westport attorney Roger Leifer. Firefighter Injured in Morning Fairfield Blaze

At 9:16am Sunday morning the Fairfield Emergency Communications Center received a call reporting “heavy black smoke” in a residence on Twin Lanes Road on the northern border of town.   Assistant Chief George Gomola assumed command; Cars 1, 2 and 5 along with Fire Marshal Bill Kessler also responded. Fire crews extinguished the fire which had apparently started in the basement, burned through the first and second floor and extended into the attic.  One firefighter was transported to the hospital by AMR, and a family pet had apparently succumbed to smoke inhalation when rescuers found it in their search of the residence. “We were fortunate that the town approved our request for additional hydrants in that area several years ago,” said…

The Obama administration announced its objection to adding President Franklin Roosevelt's D-Day prayer to the World War II Memorial in Washington, D.C.    Roosevelt asked the nation to join him in prayer as U.S. and allied troops launched the invasion that led to the defeat of Nazi Germany. [caption id="attachment_4946" align="alignleft" width="300" caption="11 people were displaced in Norwalk fire (stock photo)"][/caption] Norwalk—At 1:20am a call came in of a structure fire at 105 South Main Street.  At 1:22am the first truck rolled up to the scene, confirmed a two and a half story structure fully involved on the first and second floor and called in a second alarm.  Fire fighters made a rear entry for primary searches for victims.  Three hoses were brought in to fight the blaze.  By 1:36am fire officials confirm the bulk of the fire on the first floor had been knocked down and they were advancing further into the structure.   At 1:44am fire department continued to battle the fire inside the walls on the…
