FOUR-YEAR-OLD GIRL STRUCK BY BRIDGEPORT POLICE CAR

A four-year-old girl was taken to Bridgeport Hospital in critical condition with serious injuries on Wednesday night after she was struck on Hanover Street by a Bridgeport Police car responding to a call. The crash occurred at approximately 9:36 p.m. The officer driving the car was on the way to a report of a mob attacking a female at nearby Went Field Park on the West Side. By the time other officers arrived at the park, the crowd had dispersed. The alleged victim of the reported attack was not located. The four-year-old victim of the crash was transported by ambulance to the hospital. She was most recently listed in critical, but stable, condition. She lives with her family on Hanover…

BPD INVESTIGATING DECEASED MAN IN POND

The Bridgeport Police Department is investigating the cause of death and the identity of a man found floating in the Beardsley Park pond on Sunday afternoon. Two fishermen reported seeing an unresponsive body in a remote area in the northern part of the pond, known as Bunnell's Pond, at approximately 3:51 p.m. Sunday. Patrol officers, detectives, firefighters and medics responded. An investigator with the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner arrived a short time later. The body was removed from the pond by the Bridgeport Fire Department. It was extremely decomposed. The man may have been in the water for a week, or more.
