6:40pm–#Westport Connecticut–The Westport Fire department was dispatched to a report of a vehicle fire on the Merritt Parkway Southbound at exit 42. The initial dispatch was for Engine 6, Engine 2 and the Shift Commander. Engine 6 arrived first and reported a fully involved passenger vehicle fire in the breakdown lane. Engine 2 arrived shortly after and both companies worked to extinguish the fire and provide overhaul. One lane of travel was temporarily shut down during firefighting operations. Connecticut State Police assisted on scene with traffic control.
