Fire deptartment reports a hole in the roof with bathroom ceiling collapse and no fire. Bridgeport PD investigate shooting

Bridgeport--Police are investigating a shooting that took place shortly after 11am this morning at the corner of Stratford Ave. and Central Ave. in front of the Prayer Tabernacle Church of Love. The man was shot in the leg and received non-life threatening injuries. No word if the shooter was apprehended

Structure fire in Fairifield not as called in

[caption id="attachment_2033" align="alignleft" width="300" caption="."][/caption] Fairfield--At 10:40pm a call went out for a structure fire at 55 Sigwin Street (off Jennings Road).    Upon arrival fire department found nothing but the two occupants waiting outside the home.  The call turned out to be a "strong odor of burnt hamburgers on the second floor.  Fire officials conducted a complete search of the home inside, outside as well as adjacent homes.  Firefighters used thermal image cameras in the investigation and found nothing for the cause of the odor.

Plane Crashes at Sikorsky Airport

Plane Crashes At Sikorsky Airport-- Written by John Kovach Stratford Star A plane clipped a fence and crashed at Sikorsky Memorial Airport around 10 p.m. Saturday night. Elaine Ficarra, director of communications for Bridgeport Mayor Bill Finch, said two people were on the aircraft. Ficarra said from the scene two people were extricated from the aircraft and taken to the hospital, suffering "minor to moderate injuries." The injured have not yet been identified. The plane reportedly caught fire after crashing, and is surrounded by fire-retardant foam on the runway. The right wing was torn off the aircraft. Debris and fuel spilled onto Main Street in Stratford, Ficarra said.Stratford police closed roads around the airport, such as Main Street and Stratford…
