Happenings NOW! 7-30 thru 7-31 2011

3:30am–Bridgeport Police are looking a Dark blue Chevy Impala, with a heavy set black male driver with a passenger in the Hollow Area near Golden Hill Street and they had with a long rifle with them. They attempted to attack several police officers. Car has dark tints, chrome tires and attempted to run over police officers. Vehicle and subjects located by 4am by Bridgeport Police.

3:10am–#Bridgeport–Wake up Black Rock! Report of a kitchen fire at 2879 Fairfield Ave. on the second floor. This is near Brewster Street.

 

4 Shot in Bridgeport Saturday Night

Shortly after 11:30pm on Saturday night shots rang out at Washington Park near the corner of East Washington Ave. and Barnum Ave. Witnesses tell us that they were young males and one may have been fatally shot at the scene.  UPDATE–Blair Belcher was the most serious and expired at Bridgeport Hospital. The second victim, Irquan Smith, 18, was shot in the leg and was taken to Bridgeport Hospital. He was taken in to surgery in serious condition.

Two other victims were transported to Saint Vincent’s Medical Center. Keith Teasly, 17, and male juvenile age 15. They received shots that were not life threatening. They report that they did not see the suspects responsible for the shooting.

 

Google Maps Car in Bridgeport

Google Maps car spotted on West Taft Street in BridgeportI came across the Google Maps car on my way back from an assignment from Kennedy Stadium.  Ironically where the car is on West Taft Street there is no street level view but it is parked in front of 562 West Taft near Norman Street.  The Geo coordinates are: geo:lat=41.18847667814022 geo:lon=-73.21054637432098  There were others taking photos when I stopped, why not you? Keep an eye out for the car.  Think of something crazy to do when it drives down your street!

Fairfield-Woman Arrested after Shoplifting and Police Pursuit

On 7/29/11 at 2:30 p.m., Diana L. Eldredge, 11/24/1968, white female, of 106 Harborview Avenue Bridgeport, CT was arrested for

Diana L. Eldredge, led police on a pursuit after allegedly shoplifting at Kohls in Fairfield.

Larceny 5th degree,  Interfering with an Officer,Reckless Driving,  Operating motor Vehicle Without a License,  Engaging in Pursuit,  No Insurance, and Theft of Plate, after she was observed by Kohl’s Department Store Loss prevention, selecting multiple items of men’s wear, take them into the women’s fitting room and leave the fitting room without the items visible. Loss Prevention checked the fitting room and found that the items were not there. Eldredge passed all points of payment and exited the store. She was approached and asked to return to the store and told the police are here, at which time Eldredge replied “I don’t give an ****expletive****” and jumped into her car, almost striking a police vehicle and engaging  Sergeant Irizarry in pursuit. The pursuit continued into Bridgeport and onto I95 southbound where Eldredge exited #22 and was stopped and taken into custody on Kinnie Drive in Fairfield.

Eldredge is under investigation for possible thefts on 7/29/11, from Marshall’s Department Store and on 7/23/11 from Kohl’s. She has a history of fifty four prior arrests. She was released from custody at approximately 8:30 pm.  Her court date is8/5/11 and bond set at $2,500.

3:10am–#Bridgeport–Wake up Black Rock! Report of a kitchen fire at 2879 Fairfield Ave. on the second floor. This is near Brewster Street.

6:50pm–#Bridgeport #ctfire Fire department on scene of 115 Livingston Place, light smoke showing. Small fire in the doorway and they are going to work on it.  UPDATE–Home owner is being uncooperative and being physically restrained. Police requested.  6:58–Fire is out, recall alarm of fire.

Bridgeport–Take Back The Night Taken Back–This evening’s Take Back the Neighborhood Walk in Black Rock has been cancelled due to expected inclement weather. The walk will be rescheduled at a later date.

2:23pm–One in custody in Fairfield after a police pursuit by Fairfield PD through Bridgeport (State Street, Fairfield Ave.) then onto I-95.  Driver did slow to 20mph at one point on I-95 on the shoulder then back to 65 mph before getting off Exit 22.  We do not have any details at this time but of course will update as we get them.  UPDATE–  Police tell us the driver who was a woman was being pulled over because the plate was stolen.   She is in custody and police have just started their investigation.

12:45pm–#Fairfield–Fire department and EMTs on the way to “The Ridge” at 80 Stewart Hill Circle, a 22 year old contractor has partially amputated his finger.

1:13am–#Southport–Group of teens set up a table in the middle of the road in front of the Southport Art Gallery on Pequot Road.
